Good timing...I was there today and conditions were sweet.  All the trails are open with powder in the glades.  Though the mountain report says 5 inches in the last 5 days, the liftie said it was probably closer to 10 on Tue/Wed.  Snow is in the weekend forecast too so conditions should remain excellent.

Helmers

Sidewinder
Sweet.

Was pretty good out there today. Everything groomed skied awesome. Ungroomed was a mix of great and not so great. Helmers and Olympic were OK if you picked your line carefully. Otherwise lots of ice between bumps. Decamp was pretty skied off.

Picks of the day: Barkeater, especially far skiers left. Still untouched pow from Wed in there. So good hard to believe it was pouring rain last Sunday on the way home as I passed through the Forge. Skiers right of Skyride was great too.

Overall, today exceeded expectations. Took a little while to find the powder pocket, but once it was found, there were many laps.

Beside skiing, not many days I get to Ski, Snowshoe, and Snowmobile in the same day. I think today completed the winter activity circle...except skating...didn't do that.

Thanks for the recommendations, we had a blast on Sunday, 3/3.  Really enjoyed the mountain, good conditions and typically could ski right onto the double.  Favorites were Barkeater far skiers left and SkyRide skiers right (as recommended) as well as Big Dipper and Rambler/Lower Glades.  Looking forward to getting back there next year.

And I haven’t even pulled the snow machine out of the barn yet.
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.

Saw Big Mac is opening tomorrow for the season. Good on them, week ahead of schedule.

I won't be out there to enjoy it, my back is still too screwed up to Ski. Hope I make it out at some point this season but prospects aren't looking good...Make some turns in my absence

Opening Day was sweet!  Plenty of snow and more being made.  Chalet is open and the beer is cold.  McCauley is open today with plans to re-open next weekend with a larger number of trails.  I'd go up again today if I could!

Was all rain in Utica on Saturday but once I crossed the line into the Adirondack Park around Forestport, it turned to snow.  I think 3 inches probably fell in Old Forge over the course of the day.

Turned out to be a pretty good day at Big Mac.  They're still limited in their open trails but what is open is pretty good.   And I think the snow forecast and low temps this week should help with that.

Based on recent snow, could one expect most of the mountain to be open Wednesday?

Today was insane. There was 18 inches of untracked at first chair and it snow hard much of the day.

We got in the steep stuff. The best strategy was to fly.  Scottski, skiology Matt, and storm skiing stuart.  Stu said it was his best east coast day ever.

Harvey, my son and I didn't get there until 2pm and skied through the last chair at 4:10.  It WAS an insanely awesome day!  Glad to hear you had a great time too.

Tomorrow will probably be just as awesome.  If there is any way I can swing it, I want hit it in the afternoon before the word-that-shall-not-be-said arrives.

This was around 230.  The snow was so intense we ducked into the trees so we could see better.
