I hit gurney at 8. Dry and pretty fast. Left around ten and it was filling up. North Bethlehem is fun after work cause it's close but the riding is kinda hokey to me.

This week's riding....

Currently working on the 2019 Cross Washington MTB route.  Been out riding for the past 7 days. I started on the beach in La Push last Sunday with a goal of making it to the Idaho border in 10 to 12 days.  The route crosses 700+ miles with about 44k of climb.  It's been a fantastic ride so far...I'm through the rain forest/mountain portion of the route, 425 miles and 30k of climbing on the legs, now I'm headed into the desert. 280 miles to the ID border, and then another 280 miles to get home (I don't have a motorized ride home, so the plan is to keep pedaling back to Wenatchee)   I'll put together a full TR once I finish the ride next week.

Here are a few pics from the past week

The beach in La Push

I rode the entire Olympic Discover trail... 60 miles, mostly single track, through a rain forest in rainy conditions... it was a tough day.

ODT Singletrack

Looking back at the Olympics... I crossed the Pugeot Sound via bridge and ferry..

Entrance to the Snoqualmie Railroad Tunnel... It's 2 miles long... felt like riding in a walk-in cooler.

Rode several hundred miles in April, so my crotch has been primed for this level of soreness.

Kevlar taunt...that’s funny!   Geez I did 20 on the glens falls bike path in this wonderful sun and heat.   Parked at country club rd parking by sports page.   Up to lake G then water refill at car then south into town for lunch

They have a brewpub and ice creme shop on the trail south of SP.   wow downtown glens falls is kinda cool too.    Bug free!   Stay outta the woods.

Hear if keep going south a bit it hits the feeder canal trail to Hudson falls.    Never been there.   Next time.  Any recs on lunch in Hudson falls?

What a life NAPA!!

Hey what's going on at the ski bowl?  Is it dry enough to ride?  Going to be up there tomorrow and looking to ride after work.

Re: Today's Ride

Sick Bird Rider
I know the title of the thread is "today's ride"  but I thought you wouldn't mind a few pics from last month's ride in Cuba.

First you have to put the bike together after taking it out of the box:

I brought my own bike multi-tool and mini pump, so assembly was easy on the cabana deck. We had some pretty sweet donated bikes, mine was a vintage Specialized Rockhopper in mint condition, with an overly cushy seat. For those that don't know, long story short, we bring donated bikes to this small resort, ride them while there and leave them with deserving locals.

Every now and then, we encounter a donated bike in its new life. This bike went down two years ago, virtually brand new. It is now a pickup truck, well-equipped for banana sales and gardening jobs.

This wasn't one of our bikes but I was impressed by the fish.

I think the same fish appeared later that day on the lunch grill:

But back to riding. There were three of us with bikes this time, keen to ride. We would arrange to meet at the coffee bar at 7 am, quickly down a doble espresso and a Clif bar and hit the road before it got redonkulously hot. This day we went out the coast road, the favourite ride in the area:

On another day, my pal Robbie suggested we ride to the reservoir. His memory of the route was vague and we ended up on the road that goes up and over the mountain. We rode, hike-a-biked a bit, then gave up.

There was a nice view through the fog of sweat:

On the way back down, we went off the road and followed some fun singletrack goat paths. Or maybe sheep paths. Fun and well groomed nevertheless.

Time for breakfast, let's get down this mountain:

SBR - that is so frigging cool. The best bike post I’ve read in a long time. I love the idea of packing in bikes to donate to the locals.

It's my understanding that this effort was originally spearheaded by Blue Toes aka Mrs SBR.

Awesome post brother, I wish it was a separate TR, easier to share on FB.

Thanks, PT. All the credit should go to my wife, she has really made this happen. Over the the last 8 years or so we have brought over 80 bikes to this region of Cuba. There are other (and bigger) programs in other parts of the world but this is our little contribution. It doesn't cost much, all the bikes we get are donated, I fix them up as needed but avoid costly repairs. Boxes are free from the LBS and it costs $30 to get it on the plane as oversize baggage.

Thanks for the support. Regarding FB, I'd rather keep it low key, just share it on the forum in this way.
