A great day today at WF. Started on the Gondola finished on Wilmington, skied all three summits, the only thing we didn't do were the trees. We called it a day because of fatigue, not because it was "skied off" or icy or too windy. I think the conditions today were better than the weekend before President's weekend.

They we're really cool----one of them gave me a beer Burried at work (reality totally sucks), but wanted to say thanks to the azzclowns for a good time. Great chattin it up with you guys at the bar. Nice to FINALLY meet you Pants. Sorry we missed you HPD, hope you're feeling better. The entire mountain skied great---snowed the entire time we were there, we hit it good this year. Craziest thing was running in to a guy I worked with at Smuggs from 86 to 90. He's a WF local, great skier and boarder (level II cert in both....maybe you know him coach??), but even more into ice climbing (Bob R.) Anyway, here's a pix of banker hittin up the airbag Time to grab a cup_0_joe and start reading a week's worth of emails |
That picture is hilarious. Good for him goin' off that thing - not me bro. Great hangin' with you guys - hope you had fun and your knee is feeling better. Ride that bike, buddy.

Nice to meet you Camp..although it was brief. Thats cause hubs likes to talkie talie a lot. U will be proud to know that myself and "boots" did yell out for you all day just cause we knew you were around but didnt know what you looked like.

I wouldn't go off that thing either. The only reason he did was because I told him TJ did it---lmao, that's a true story. Me thinks their from the same mold, neither one wants to get out done by the other. Banker used to race prof motorcross and snowcross so he's used to being in the air but not on skis.....he was scared, I just know it.
Pants, next year we'll hang more---i was about 10 or 14 Busch Light pounders deep when i met you, so didn't want you to get the wrong impression |
Was "Banker" skiing with TJ on Skyward late Saturday afternoon? If so, I heard him give TJ a great line. TJ asked: "How are your legs holding up?" Response: "Medium to Medium-Well" Sorry I didn't get to meet you Camp, maybe next time, though I have a funny feeling I may have seen you in the mid-lodge at around 10:00 on Saturday morning. Were you sitting at a table near the window overlooking Lower Valley with an older gentlemen wearing a yellow coat?

Whiteface being Whiteface today...I got there at 1:30(damn work) skied Hoyt's for my first time (Finally) and loved it. If I can ski it in some spring corn I think this could be one of my favorite trails (glades not included)...I kept going back and forth between Hoyts and Look out below...The skiers left on Wilmington was soft...but alas I finished on my fav...MacKenzie and again and again(skiers right was blown in pow with old guy bumps...perfect).
Weather = Brutal Skiing = Nice I am happy I stopped by

Nope, wasn't me, I didn't even ski saturday. After skiing friday (excellent conditions) my bad wheel was friggin killin me, so i was back at camp on ice. I was at the lounge with my pal Racer (he had enough by noon) watching the Cuse game (which we effin lost) tossin back Busch Light pounders---funny, after 6 or 7 of those and a pain killer my knee didn't hurt at all. Not sure if banker and TJ hooked up or not on saturday, I kinda doubt it was him that you heard make that comment, if he was at all tired he would NEVER admit to it, EVER. Next time for sure!!! |
Well, in that case, I'm glad I didn't walk up to the guy and ask: "Are you Camp?"

Ha I did not remember that until I saw it. That was Tom. Albany friend. I thought he was a B-sittting down in Albany when he would talk about skiing. Good on him. He was dead on.
I missed campies crew on Sat. I was tough to spot. I got there at 7 and skied till 3. Had the bakers dozen going on and having fun with the customers. That air bag shot was larry. Tell banker im doing it and pulling a back flip. Just waiting till I get a slow day. |
Buddy of mine got to hit slide 3 today----- said there wasn't a track on it....that must have sucked.

Slides opened for a bit today. Small guided groups had access to 3 and 4. The plan is to do the same tomorrow. (Check in with Patrol at the top of the summit chair).

Beautiful spring skiing at Whiteface today. Good size crowd. Surface conditions were great overall.
The upper lifts were a shitshow today. The Lookout Chair had some mechanical issues that shut it down mid-day. Chair 6 was a mess because of all the people lined up to ski the slides. Slide 4 opened for a little today. Heavy mashed at the top with nice conditions lower down. Lots of people in there that should not have been. |
Nice day Sunday follow up a great Saturday. Sunday was a little warmer but with clouds around it keep it the snow from becoming to cooked. For me I thought Hoyt's was the run of the day with medium sized soft bumps. That is one long bump run.
I'm not sure how firm it was 1st thing in the am as my son had a race I had to watch. Mt Run and Mac where also very nice. It was pretty crowded with it being a Super Sunday. Lucid sounded great in the Lounge too.

SEE THAT PANTS; HOYTS!! Lookout was about as good as it going to get yesterday as well.
|
I did hoyts! Once in morning and once in afternoon--really softened up in afternoon. I just wanted to do one more run down mac--that was equally as good. Lookout below was perfect.
|
Hoyt's was a blast on Saturday, and was easily my ROTD. Was my first time on HH. An all around fun trail with a variety of pitches to keep things interesting. Would love to see a small traverse near to bottom of Hoyt's to get over to chair 6.

Wife and I were planned to head up to LP until rain hit. She called trip off indicating concern of spending $$ for crappy conditions. Tonight I hit Facebook and see the pic of the "whiteout" today at the mountain which produced 1" of snow. My wife comes in the room, sees the pic, and states, "we're idiots"! I love the we're part. If I assume the we're role in her statement, am I truly an idiot, or do the conditions suck at the moment?
