I skied the morning today and it was awesome.  Mac top and bottom were the best.  Skyward groomed and nice.  What looks like powder on the inside of the wilderness bump run is not as good as it looks...dust on concrete.

Whiteface conditions report is showing snowmaking on Lower Parkway.

Does anyone know if that's "for real", meaning they're blowing the whole trail, or is it just one or two guns for the airbag and the I-lift mid-station unloading area?

When they cancelled school today I arranged for my son to go skiing with a buddie.  It was his first full day of skiing without any parent or coach supervision.  He had a great time.

In the morn with a few inches it did not seem worth a vacation day.  By lunch time it kept snowing so I shot over for a few runs.  Really good stuff.  Lift 6 stopped for about 10 mins costing me an extra run.  That 20 mins I was on the lift it was totally nuking snow.  It snowed 2 inches on that lift ride.  Since they closed it to adjust a sensor once I got off I was literally the only skier on the summit.  One of my top 5 runs of the year and I just gift back from Alta.

That is the snow on my just fir the time the lift was stopped

I should have taken the vacation day.

Does anyone have the final report on storm total at Whiteface?  Just curious, I saw someone said GORE picked up around 12".

I was only able to make it to the Catskills after calling in sick, but had a great day at Belleayre.  Hit first chair, ton of snow in the Cats.

Re: Whiteface Conditions

Skidds
Hoyt's Heaven.....at least it was today.  With the fam today, so I didn't get around much.  Kids Kampus was as good as it's ever been.  Golden Glades were nice.  Other than that we did Essex (pretty icy up top, very nice below that), Mac (some firm edgeable man made down the middle of upper, but nice snow along the edges.....and nice snow/bumps on lower), and Hoyt's.

Daddy ski day tomorrow.  Set for first tracks and then I'll hit it hard and give a more comprehensive report.  That is assuming I make it off Hoyt's....it was that good.

Really nice conditions this weekend

Good groomers for ripping gs turns and then there was Hoyt's which was off the charts.  Dam that is one long bump run.  I toasted my legs yo yo ing that.

Only pod not top notch is Mt run but they are going to blow that again soon.

Re: Whiteface Conditions

Skidds
I thought Mountain Run was pretty sweet today.  I got first tracks on corduroy first thing this am, perfect for high speed carving.  I went back for more after lunch and there was a little ice, but still good for ripping.  Wilderness wasn't in great shape.

Upper Sky was great all day...lower not so much, it needs a grooming.  Niagara was nice, Victoria so so.  Upper Mac has some carveable man made hard pack down the middle, but lots of nice snow on the edges.  Hoyt's was great again.  Lookout Below was funky as usual, but carveable hard pack.  The bumps and snow making mounds on that trail are always interesting.  Boreen and Upper/Lower Valley were very nice.

Overall conditions were very good, and much improved from just a few weeks ago.

Whiteface is skiing awesome.    All trails are in good shape.  We are just about 100% open.
