Whiteface Conditions (2013-2014)

The lifts need two power sources to run in case of emergency.  They won't not run them if they did not have access to back up eletricity.  Not defending them just sayin.

Yeah ... well, I probably overreacted. The skiing was great this morning and I was really tweaked that I was only able to get in five runs because of the closures (had to leave to get some work done).

Also, for whatever reason, nobody seems to have any explanation for why the gondola wasn't running.

They ran the lifts on diesel only one day a couple of years ago when there was a big power problem in Wilmington. I understand that since it was a weekday, and they knew the outage would be relatively short, they didn't want to deal with it, but I still feel badly for those people who wanted to ski and couldn't.

Yeah ... it was a bit rough out there today.

I kind of knew what kind of day it was going to be, when I drove down the entrance road at 8:05 and the River Lot was already full!!!

But, tomorrow's another day, and hopefully things will be better ... my glass remains half full!

I was skiing with Face4me yesterday and the top of Victoria was hard for me to stand still on.  He was coming in hot  to where I was barely able to stand and I had to wave him off so he didn't take me out.

My son came home from NYSEF training and said they had about 6" of fluff at Whiteface. Things are looking up with more clippers and cold tems.  God I do love me some clippers.    Unfortunately I had to work in my office all day.

This morning was awesome...nice light coating of snow with no wind...picks of the day were Skyward for manmade assisted snow and Wilderness for 6-8 inches of untouched.

Today was MUCH better than Saturday & Sunday ... first of all, there was no one there ... second, the 4 - 6 (guess-timate) of fresh powder was VERY welcome indeed. With this week's cold temps, next weekend is shaping up very nicely indeed.

Mtn is in really great shape coming out of MLK!  Skyward by the end of yesterday was outstanding.  would not be suprised if Lower Sky opens tomorrow.  It sure skied nice yesterday.

Parkway/Mtn Run/Wilderness/Victoria just an amazing transformation from Sunday to Monday.  

Niagara wasn't awful yesterday.  

Stayed off the tombstone bumps of Essex.  man that will ski sweet once that mess is groomed.  

supe cold, dry and no wind this morning.  SnowTribe gonna bury it!

We are shaping up sweet for the second half of the season!!!  

Saturday morning skin was awesome.  perfect weather!  

Cloudspin is close but still dangerous!  

That Chevy Ski weekend brings out the straight skis and 20 year old ski jackets like crazy.

No update to the Whiteface conditions report on the web-site today ... did everyone freeze?
