Looks like a return to snowmaking weather on Thursday night continuing through as far out as the forecast goes.  They should be able to resurface the open run quick, and then quickly move to Lower Northway, Essex, and Broadway, which could possibly come on line on Sunday if they blow nonstop.  After the weekend, I'm guessing they go all out with terrain expansion, and much more will open by the 10th.  Hopefully they try to limit the snowmaking on open trails to overnight because I have many issues with my glasses fogging up if they're blowing snow.

Thursday will be very windy, so they may only be open from Facelift down.

best way to ski whiteface is to follow the guns.  Shutting down guns during the day...  OMG gun pow is awesome in the right temp.

I have goggles that I wear over my glasses, which don't fog themselves, but my glasses will immediately fog up if I stop skiing and don't put my goggles up.  I have anti-fog spray that I put on my glasses, but I have to reapply it every other gondola ride for it to be effective.

The only way to keep them from fogging is to build up speed really quick and then hold my breath for a few seconds to put them on.  I already keep the vents open, but it still isn't enough.

Skiing in snowmaking, or any natural precipitation only makes it worse.

Contacts?  Or can you not wear them for some reason...

Skied in my glasses once when I forgot contacts...it was horrible.

A family member has been in Lake Placid all day, says there has been minimal rain. Radar seems to show it skidding just south...

Anyone at the mountain can report on if it's rained much?  Maybe they got lucky so far....

Minimal r*in in Potsdam as well.  According to the report, they were running Facelift and gondola yesterday, but today, it's only the gondola.  Tomorrow might be the worse day for r*in.

I'm hoping damage is minimal and they get into expansion mode fast.

My last day to ski at Whiteface before going home for winter break will be 12/16 Friday.  Is that still too early to hope for the Summit being open?  It'll definitely be a slap in the face if they open it the day after on Saturday, but it opens whenever weather conditions allow and that's it.

Probably not going to happen unless we start getting serious snow.  Parsons and Follies always is first usually right around Xmas.

Snoloco... thanks for re-setting the title of the Whiteface Conditions thread back to it's original state.

In case anyone is wondering, there are 14 rules and guidelines for the forum and they are posted here:

http://forum.nyskiblog.com/NY-Ski-Forum-Rules-Policies-and-Guidelines-tp3268901.html

The rule that applies here is number 9:

"Don't change the post title of the conditions threads. Don't. Don't do it. Do not do it."

Another more general rule, number 1 also applies:

"Don't make work for the moderators. Follow these guidelines."

If you have done this without knowing the rules, it's ok.

Coach knows this pisses me off, I don't understand why he continues to do it.

In my personal opinion, I don't ask for much. Humor me.

Z,

Are you at the mountain today?  Word from my dad over in LP is that the sun came out - rain holding off in Wilmington?

In Montreal at a trade show.  It's warm about pouring rain.  Not a good sign.

This weekend looks like 24 hour snowmaking, according to the weather.gov page that is linked to from this site.  Should be able to resurface Excelsior tonight into tomorrow, then expand to new terrain.  I'd think Essex and Lower Northway could be opened by Sunday as they started on them last weekend.  Victoria IIRC is usually next.  How much snow to cover that?
