Whiteface Conditions (2016 - 2017)

Just arrived.

Their Facebook post about making snow on Wilmington was a big fat bold faced lie.  Didn't see any snowmaking up there from 86.  I think they're trying to do a bait-n-switch.

How much new snow?

Not sure if they got the 8 inches they said.  Maybe that was measured up top.

Good conditions today, but crowds are kind of weird.  Definitely busier than MLK Weekend.  Summit Quad line out of the ropes, so haven't been up there yet.  LWF had a longer line than the gondola at times, but other times was really short.  Race chair and Facelift have no line.

Snowmaking was shut down on Lower Skyward, but still going on Lower Thruway.  Guns have been moved off Upper Northway, but it's closed.  No snowmaking on WT, but I saw a maintenance guy doing some work on the chair.  I took note of the chair numbers at the loading area, and it has spun since my last visit.

Hey just enjoy the day . If the condition are fine , LIFE IS GOOD .i wish i could be out there .

Finally got to the summit.  Low visibility at the very top, but better below the ladies' start on Skyward.  Very top of Skyward is terrible.  Windswept hockey rink.  Below that it's awesome.  Lower Skyward is even better.

I also skied a couple runs on Lower Thruway cutting over on Low Road.  Untracked powder (mixed man made and natural) above Burton's.

Crowds seem to have died down a bit, probably just lunch hour.

Lookout Triple has been running in a test mode all day, and I saw some snowtribe members going up.   I can hear some guns going up there from the Summit Quad.

Skied Empire for the 1st time today.

Caught skyward during a sunny break this morning was great, never hit lower skyward should have

Some really great skiing today.  8" new that skied more like a foot early on and in the woods.  Got the 3rd tracks into Mac in the am

CS glades and Cloud both were great.

We seem th be in a really good weather pattern right now.

Fantastic conditions today, I hit Upper Skyward, Lower Skyward & Blazer's Bluff early and had some of my best skiing in years.  It was crowded, and as always with crowds you meet some great characters, as I arrived at the base lodge I met a group who had hiked up to the summit at 5:00am and skied down!  To escape the masses I hit the glades, which were all quiet and skied great.  Hope anyone who missed today gets out there soon, the Face is in awesome shape.

Best weekend of skiing in 2 years.  Some spring weekends may have been as good, but best winter skiing.

Absolutely - best weekend I've had in the northeast in quite sometime.  Arrived in LP Friday afternoon and it didn't stop snowing until I drove away from the high peaks Sunday evening.  This is the way winter should be.

sickly sick on Lookout Mtn!  Winkytown trail is good to go right the F now!  

Petit Homme  say 10 Hail Marys and 5 Art Fathers and bring some nice donuts to the Admin Office this weekend.  You don't have to say your sorry for calling them liars.  Just leave the donuts and say thank you for all your hard work.
