To send patrollers down those three trails requires the lift to run, which requires additional staff.  If lift ops staff is an issue hopefully they will be better staffed for what should be a good weekend!
Their stated closing day in April 9th, so it's not like being operational "caught them off guard" here.

If it was April 16th, I'd understand that concern, but March 16th the season is still thriving.  It's not even Saint Patrick's Day yet.
Can we get SOME snow?  Please?

skin it to win it?

It sounds like a sweet private reserve for locals willing to climb.

I hear you!  I'm not saying it's right, if Lookout isn't running due to staffing issues, I'm just speculating and hoping for better for the weekend.

I had no doubt that Scotty's tracks were up there.

Thinking on it a little more......no, hoping Lookout doesn't turn this weekend.  Especially given that SJ already set the track!!  Mad props on breaking trail in that much snow!

Atta Boy!

I bet it's an easy lap too. You could probably have that whole slope farmed out in in a couple of hours!

this year the local sheriff closed access to our back country from the ski area because they couldn't handle all of the rescues they were called on from stupid kids getting themselves hurt in our south side side country. My first reaction was F-that, you can't close the wilderness but after rethinking the whole thing I quickly realized this meant that for the few of us that were going to go anyway was that we had wide open heli skiing like conditions without any competition. Those few days were unreal.

Yeah that is Hoyts.  Whoever broke trail up Wilmington is a machine!!  2.5 miles through 40 inches of unconsolidated snow is just unbelievable, Whoa boy you are an iron man!!

I have not checked around.  With the weather this weekend I would think probably. I am really interested to see if lookout opens.  Annoying there is nothing indicating it on the website.  I think it will.

As far as you know, when the Slides need to be ski cut and compacted some before they can be opened does patrol ever enlist the help of skiers with backcountry experience?  When I think the Slides are a possibility I always spend a little time sniffing around the Patrol shack.

The last few days the Lookout chair was on "hold", which made many (myself included) think it was due to wind, but today it's market "closed".

Also, Little Whiteface chair is "closed" too, which I dont get given the wind is supposedly not all that bad today.  Guess I shouldn't expect any less from the worst run major ski resort east of the Mississippi (and possibly North America for all I know).

Sometimes yes sometimes no.  If the snow melds to the layer below(this sun will help) I would say they have a decent shot.  A lot depends on who is on patrol and how many show up to patrol.
