88-89 looks like a it was a solid year for NoVT: 79-80 certainly does look similar to this year in terms of snowpack at the Stake, maybe it was slightly better overall but not by much. At least we have better snow making technology now, so that is something. But that also means the average season is better than it used to be so subpar seasons when areas have a hard time snowmaking are really noticeably bad from a relative perspective.

NoVT has it's own climate some years... I find most years Kton is the dividing line . Anything north is usually ok and south tends to be so so..
still this year is just bad for everyone.....

Sorry to rub it in but you guys need to drive north. Snowing like a mofo up here.
Tim Kelley is pretty optimistic about the next week or so at JPR, which is not so far north as Hinterlandia:

Looks like Mont Ste. Anne and Le Massif de Charlevoix are in the wheelhouse for this storm.

I see both sides of this coin. even if it's 'ok' in your backyard, it's hard not to still feel the suckitude of the worst season of my lifetime.
|
Worst weather and natural conditions I can remember, sure, but I feel like I'm having a great season anyway. My heart goes out to the hardcore backcountry guys of course; not much to do about that. There is still lift served skiing to be had though; can't let it get you down

I did a bit of hiking (not skiing) this winter - At times there was good snow at elevation but I never took the gear in. Did mostly lift served this year. I actually enjoyed it. Maybe I am getting soft - where are those hand warmers...
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.
