I've learned to not waste energy on things I can't control.
Obviously this thing is serious and I'm not trying to take anything away from that. I'm not going to let it stop me from doing what I enjoy to do.

Hopefully this was reported and someone didn't pony up the $ for this pack of TP...UFB. 36 rolls for $1000.
Area this was posted contains one of the highest density of senior communities on the east coast and TP supply is depleted at the moment. Not in the market for TP myself since we have some and I'm pretty sure there's still supply on the supermarket shelves local to where I'm at.

If things get dicey buying TP in my area, I'll be configuring makeshift bidet with my 5 hp powerwasher, and drip dry... lmao.

I'm skiing.

The hype is crazy.

Fuck it, I could get hit by a bus in 3 weeks too.
We have a family acquaintance who was run over and killed by a bus in a supermarket parking lot. All in on the "may get hit by a bus" thing. Not choosing to live a life of fear. F it...I'm going skiing this weekend as well.
Exactly. I'm not crawling in a hole.

A sensible attitude but temper it with normal precaution. Here is a good outlook from a Hinterlandian infectious disease specialist:

I don’t think it’s something to be terrified from but we need to be responsible here. If it spreads like crazy it’s going to have extremely negative, crushing impacts on everything really.

Good article. Thanks!

I've got a college-age daughter home for what may be the rest of the spring semester.  We're going to host her boyfriend who didn't go home for spring break as long as needed.  He'll be at our house by this weekend.  My husband has underlying medical issues that put him at high-risk if he gets sick.  But I'm still planning on flying to SLC for my trip to Alta Lodge in April.  Having traveled to China with friends and their children during the summer of H1N1, I'm paying plenty of attention, changing some things, going out far less than usual, but not in a panic.

ACC Men's Hoops Tourney has been canceled

Go figure, SU just made UNC look JV last night

Big East is currently the only conf to still be playing their championship. They'll obviously cancel as well.

NHL soon to announce they're shutting down as well.

Glad I don't like big crowds to begin with, sounds like a perfect Sunday to go to camp after a few AM turns.

Glad that the brief sunshine on the perineum craze from 2 months ago didn’t overlap with the toilet paper shortage.

The Major Soccer League has also suspended games.  Looks like the NHL and MLB activities are on hold as well.

Just as well I wasn't paying attention to the Tar Heels this season.  My husband recorded their second game with Duke.  He's a Dookie by choice after moving to NC.  We usually watch in separate rooms. :-)

Okay, so now NYC is shutting down.  Broadway shows stop as of 5pm today.  The Metropolitan Museum of Art is closing on March 13.

Re: Coronavirus

Must admit I'm astonished to find that there was a death in South Dakota of an elderly man attributed to COVID-19.  The city of Sioux Falls declared a state of emergency in order to stem the tide by limiting gatherings and so on.  There are now 8 known cases.  A man who had traveled out of state recently is the first case to be detected in North Dakota.

Maine has also started detecting cases.

That leaves ID, MT, WV, and AL as the only states not yet reporting a case of COVID-19.  Given the spread in WA and OR, have to think that someone in ID has it.  AL and WV have been slow to start testing, but started this week.

Apparently the only other times MOMA has closed was right after 9/11 and because of Hurricane Sandy.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - CORONAVIRUS
Last evening dining out with friends, one of their uncles, who's graduated with a master's degree and who worked in Shenzhen Hospital (Guangdong Province, China) sent him the following notes on Coronavirus for guidance:
1. If you have a runny nose and sputum, you have a common cold
2. Coronavirus pneumonia is a dry cough with no runny nose.
3. This new virus is not heat-resistant and will be killed by a temperature of just 26/27 C degrees. It hates the sun.
4. If someone sneezes with it, it travels about 10 feet before it drops to the ground and is no longer airborne.
5. If it drops on a metal surface it will live for at least 12 hours - so if you come into contact with any metal surface - wash your hands as soon as you can with an antibacterial soap.
6. On fabric it can survive for 6-12 hours. normal laundry detergent will kill it.
7. Drinking warm water is effective for all viruses. Try not to drink liquids with ice.
8. Wash your hands frequently as the virus can only live on your hands for 5-10 minutes, but - a lot can happen during that time - you can rub your eyes, pick your nose unwittingly and so on.
9. You should also gargle as a prevention. A simple solution of salt in warm water will suffice.
10. Can't emphasize enough - drink plenty of water!
THE SYMPTOMS
1. It will first infect the throat, so you'll have a sore throat lasting 3/4 days
2. The virus then blends into a nasal fluid that enters the trachea and then the lungs, causing pneumonia. This takes about 5/6 days further.
3. With the pneumonia comes high fever and difficulty in breathing.
4. The nasal congestion is not like the normal kind. You feel like you're drowning. It's imperative you then seek immediate attention.
SPREAD THE WORD - PLEASE SHARE."
