An EC powder list with no mention of magic mtn/snow ridge/any of the lake effect belt ski areas in ny/no plattekill?? I'm surprised they didn't mention okemo as a pow destination. 571 inches of snow in one season at jay peak in 2000! LOL!
14-15 Season:

Pow that's the fun of posting these things so we can Monday morning QB.
Tucks only 275? From realz? Seems like that elevation would get you a lot. Maybe it's so deep because it doesn't get much rain and blows in the cracks. Also funny that the URL says Top 9 but the article says Top 10. I wonder who they added after publishing.

275 sounds right to me. Tucks isn't a ski area with a marketing department so no one has a reason to inflate numbers. The snow drifts in there. That's why it's so deep. http://www.mountwashington.org/weather/normals.php

Equally funny, the first paragraph in the article says Top 5: Here are our picks for the Top 5 places to find powder in the East. |

It's also in NH, and not northern VT which gets a lot more snow. |
So around 6000 feet in the whites gets less snow than northern VT? LOL!
14-15 Season:
11-22 Snow Ridge (opening day 35") 1-7 Snow Ridge (10") 11-28 Grand targhee 1-8 Telluride(12 inches) 11-30 jackson hole(10 inches) 1-9 Whistler(12 inches) 1-11 mt bactchelor(20 inches) 12-7 Vail(15 inches) 1-12 Mt baker(30 inches 12-10 Whistler(20 inches) 12-12 Whistler helisking(bottomless) 12-14 Big Sky(27 inches) 12-15 Mammoth(24 inches) 12-18 Kirkwood(50 inches) 12-21 Alta(37 inches) 12-22 Grand targhee(40 inches) 12-26 jackson hole(26 inches) 12-28 Chugatch backcountry(bottomless powder) |
So Alta is at 7k feet and gets double the snow of abasin at 10500. What does that have to do with the price of a slice of pizza? |
I'm not even going to argue this idiocy. www.mountwashington.org/weather/normals.php northern VT..mount mansfield summit http://www.wrcc.dri.edu/cgi-bin/cliMAIN.pl?vt5416 Enough SAID.

Just for comparison. The snowiest place in the contiguous U.S.(mount baker) Now obviously bear in mind some of this is rain especially at lower elevations. You have to know how to read these maps.(keeping in mind how often it rains/how wet snow is ie utah can make more snow with less precip/out west it's not as detailed in the maps ect) Washington is a northern rain forest. But you can see how at upper elvations, the place gets absolutely hammered with snow.
