Thought you said the long range was bullshit.  Maybe it isn't only if it's gloom and doom.

it backed off a bit.. a few days ago it was showing  some North Atlantic Blocking..Not so much now..That does mean it won't get cold, it just makes hard for the cold air to stick around..

It still very early..I still think we will have a good season..

Is North Atlantic Blocking a good or bad thing?

North Atlantic (aka Greenland) Block are the the key to extended cold in the Northeastern US and Europe.

How are things looking for this weekend?  Any chance of getting a little snow to refresh things?

looks like some snow showers..nothing significant

Windham was hit hard by this week's thaw.  They opened last weekend with What's Next off the D-Lift and Whistler off the HSQ.  The Wall was also open.  Looking at the webcam, What's Next isn't skiable at all.  Whistler looks to still be skiable near the top, but the bottom rotted out bad, and you can't ski back to the HSQ as of now.  They will need to push snow from the upper section to keep it open.  Some snowmaking will be necessary if they hope to reopen tomorrow.  I'm guessing they might push back and reopen Saturday.  Hunter and Belleayre definitely lost some coverage, but the trails are still skiable for their full length.  Whiteface's webcam is broken and Gore doesn't have one, so I can't check the damage there.

The spring and summer were sooo dry, especially for you guys in central ny...down state we are still 10" behind..

remember nothing is written in stone...but it looks good..

It looked like NoVT was absolutely off the hook today.  Forecast looks good for the next week.

Watching it snow somewhere else is, liking watching porn, it just ain't the same.  let it snow more in the mountains , but let it snow on me too...

Mid range is looking down right frigid..Wouldn't be surprised to see some near zero readings in the north country..

In my experience snow rarely falls in a band that is 250 miles wide.  If I have a choice between snow in my driveway and snow in the mountains, I'll take the mountains every time.

I remember one Christmas shoveling 20 inches out of my driveway and driving up to the Adirondacks to ski some pretty bony conditions.  Snow belongs in the mountains!
