Good for him! Although it was busy, mountain skied great and never waited more than 5 minutes for a chair. Was one of the first people up and first few runs were pretty sublime. Found some great stashes in the woods later in the day too. Was a successful first trip, and I will definitely be back.

Surprised I didn't run into you Harvey but at the same time, there was a big crowd.

Any bar that has Trout Town Rainbow Red on tap also gets a  in my book.

Just curious, what was their final snowfall total?

Just spoke to Laz, today is an attendance record, since he bought the mountain in '93.
Sure looked like it. I never took those runs. Place was just too mobbed. Formulating a plan for tomorrow. Maybe some BC.

A couple from today...

Marcski

Scottski

Shout out to MC for hooking me up with spare poles, after a collision with a snow drift left me with only one.

Ordered a new pair will try to get them back to you asap.

What's awesome about Plattekill is even on the busiest day in history, the trails still look like this. Empty. Well, not quite.
I'll take boilerplate ice over wet snow any day

Haha ditto that!  Still have my two free passes from fall - earliest I can get down there is 3/15.  That's a Thursday so we need a "Powder Daize".  Maybe another mid-March monster storm on the way like last year?

here is some classic windblown. it was  packed but still got my runs in. was in the car at 1:30, gased. I bet 1/2 those people had never been to platty. there was some grumbling from the regulars about the crowds but platty needs a few days like these to pay the bills.

Thanks. Swelling going down a bit. Hopefully I'll be looking normal* by the end of the week.

Friday in particular was some of the best times I can remember skiing the east. When we  left on Saturday line of parked cars went for well over a mile back from the mountain and there was Lazlo with the fire department directing traffic down there. I was held up from leaving the parking lot b/c a food supply truck was coming up to replenish all the food that had been eaten that day.

I was with another group of skiers just out in front of Matt when he got cut.  When I learned what happened at lunch, I was pretty freaked out the rest of the day.  If that can happen to him, it can happen to any of us!  Heal quick and pretty my friend.

Marcski
The entire 3 day weekend was sublime. Friday was by far the best....one of the best storm days of skiing I ever had. Every run was filled in deeper than the one before.

As a thanks to the man behind the blog, a guy with the passion and the turns to prove it, here's a picture I grabbed on his departure. This is what Harvey looks like after two days of epic skiing at his "favorite" area, after a white knuckle drive, climbing through 3' of snow to the marcski lodge, and minimal sleep.  Harv, you da man.

platty was good today, it rarely disappoints. i poked around all day and found nice lines in the woods. there is a weird layer of crud in there. my guess is from the snow melt/freeze. not very crowded.
