I was on the road by 5am today to ski Platty.   I arrived in the parking lot to a steady light snow.

When I went in to get my ticket, Laszlo was in a great mood for obvious reason.
First in line at the double, although I ended up going to the triple first when the operator said there would be a slight delay from them finishing up grooming.

Everything that was groomed had about 3 inches of fresh powder on it and it skied awesome!  Everything that was not groomed, yup, awesome too.  Any lines that I found in the trees, you guessed it, also excellent!  Lift lines were non existent.

I happened upon this line in the woods.  It was my favorite of the day and I skied it several times.  I just can’t remember which trail it was off of.
It snowed lightly all day long, with a couple breaks of sun, adding a couple inches to their totals.  When I finally headed for home about 3 o’clock, it was still snowing!

Just a couple more conditions photos.  For anyone heading up this weekend, you shouldn’t be disappointed.

Wow, great day.  They’ve easily had 6-8 inches of fluff since we were here Thursday, and LOTS of it is untracked in the woods!  A lot more exploring today, and I’ve grown to love this place more.  Found the house, hit the road.  I saw you from the lift this am Harvey.  A couple guys yelling to a Harvey with free heels.  Had to be you.  I bet you were the Jersey plate who pulled in to the reserved lot in front of us this morning.  I’ll keep my eyes peeled!

The glade crew reaped big dividends this weekend. The woods skied like Jay. Can't wait to cut again this fall.

Plattekill was skiing great on Saturday. Several inches of lake effect overnight topped off the snow from Quinn and Riley, and flurries continued throughout the day. Plenty of fresh lines to be had all day in the trees, but the trails were skiing fantastic as well.

Get out and get it while you can. The stronger March sun means all this snow won't last long.

For sure! I think just about every run I took yesterday involved some amount of trees. And every good run on a pow day like this involves drops. Something that no other mountain I've been to can come close to competing with.

Joe Snow was home from college this weekend, and was his first time skiing Plattekill this season. He has been stuck skiing Blue Mountain and Round Top in PA. I think Platty was a humbling experience for him

I think I might have had 2 of my top ten days ever in the same weekend.  Not totally sure.  It could be the compounding of Magic and Plattekill are just overwhelming me.  Either way the shit eating grin is making my face sore.

^^That pic I should have saved for a blog post but I couldn't help it. Got a lot of stuff to do, Magic, Bearpen, Plattekill and Mt Peter.

So cool to meet JTG. Great ski partner.

Fun day at Platty last Thursday. Thanks Lazlo for opening. I could have gone to VT but after years of reading about Platty I decided to drive south and spend my money there. Super fun day doing laps off the double. Trees had a little layer of funky crust but still skiable. The triple side wasn't as good so mostly just stayed on the double. So nice to ski natural on top of natural and not bottom out on hardpack. Glad some more snow came through to refresh everything. Kudos to the fall cutting crews. Will try to make it next fall.

Would have posted last week but city trip Friday and busy weekend at Gore.

Unfortunately, I can't get back up until Friday night. The skiing has been so good and the forecast (fingers crossed) looks cool all week with another 8" or so of a refresh.

Sidecountry has been amazing and the inbounds woods are still all filled in:

I got some good pics, so I think I'm going for a blog post late week. Working on Magic now.

Yesterday was insanely good. I sang all the way home.

I'll may get back up this weekend too.

So much smoke in the air I can barely breathe.
But aside from that, yeah Platty was prob in the top 10 for best days this wknd.
