Hey bro politics are wlc in the political page. You can join my dodgeball team.
Thanks, but I think I'll pass.

Arguing politics is like trying to convince the other person what the color "red" looks like to them. Only they know.

Bro joins the forum and brings 100 posts of pure stoke. I don't see the problem.

We’re all adults here (I think). Just trying to lure him into the quagmire. See which member (memeber?) will sink their fangs into him, or vice versa.

If I'm going to do that, I prefer actual physical conversation.  At least then I can read someones social cues to understand how to steer a conversation.

On the internet it's just throwing punches in a dark room, hoping one will land, and when it does, everyone else dogpiling on and kicking 'em while they're down.

NY has the highest state tax burden in the country considering everything
Not necessarily for retirees, especially Upstate. NY income tax is pretty minimal for retirees. Upstate property taxes are variable, but not as bad as downstate.

Better to decide where you want to live and manage the taxes than to live somewhere you don't like because of the taxes.

JTG  we have the same problem here too. They buy a house , say it's is now a Temple and don't want to pay property tax..The community is in a up roar.

Living in New City is not bad, relatively close to NYC , the mountains and the beach.
But it's hard to justify living here and watch you town go to shit and pay enormous tax bill.

We will probably end up on Cape Cod. The house is valued at 500k with a tax bill around 4k.. That's hard to turn down..
After writing this , I realize I'm blessed to have theses problem..
I'm going to be brutally honest with you Jason, living in NJ flipping sucks. The rat race culture is dookie and the immediate outdoor recreational options are mediocre at best. I highly advise getting out ASAP.

You are one funny dude with a wonderful sense of the absurd .

I have been aware of the problem you describe in that region and was frankly shocked by the depth of that situation .
Your plan b seems reasonable and hey who could hate  The Cape  .

I think I'll focus my open eyes on something more positive.  Like constructive ways I can influence and motivate people via the internet.

Thanks anyway.

Thanks..I'm trying to develop that into a 30 min act..

Oddly enough most of the homes for sale in my neighbor hood are being bought by, Indian and Asian families. This is a welcomed change. They  value education and support the local school system.

Z... If this is what you are after why wait until retirement to move?  I get the whole kid is in school thing (believe me) but could you have made the move before he got attached to his current school?

That might not work out very well for you either.

The internet is for porn & YouTube videos about how to do stuff.

Everything else is distraction (and not even very good distraction).
