I guess it is just as well that there is going to be so much snow up north because all the mountains further north need natural snow to have a good ski experience, they can't do without it.  We don't need any at Creek, Peter, Tuxedo Ridge, or Hunter (since that is not "north enough" for most people here) to have a good year.  We make winter ourselves, not rely on unreliable snow storms.  Vulcan, bring on all the r*in you want, I dare you.  I also guarantee that Creek will still be open till at least March 30th no matter how much r*in we get.  Hunter just announced that they will stay open till at least April, 13 too.  So enjoy shoveling out of the driveway and dealing with the ever growing snow piles, bad roads, and car accidents to get to your overrated "powder".  It's probably going to crappy heavy and wet anyway and then thaw and freeze over into boilerplate.  I don't need to do any shoveling to get to Creek or brave the bad roads or risk life and limb.  Just means more time on the slopes for me.  If you want spring skiing and not boilerplate every day, it may be time to drive south to Creek where it softens up earlier in the day.  You can also keep going after 4pm with all the daylight still there since we have night skiing.  That is what I will be doing for the rest of the year, with some Hunter trips thrown in till both mountains close, then finish out The Beast of the East.
To add to your upbeat post, I think the crowds at creek should also be very light during the rain on Wednesday. Maybe I'll see you there.

Seems that maybe the last runs have pulled storm a bit farther south.  I'm a Catskill lover and rooting for the best for Plattekill, Belle, Hunter and Windham.

This map has the storm running very close to the benchmark.  (cheap attempt to lure Noah out for some analysis!)

Snoloco...  remember we are skiers. Skiing is fun!

Harv,
You need to look at the upper air too, it's not all about the surface low
the 850 zero line doesn't get south off of the Cats until around 2am ish.. a bit of mixed and rain has fallen by then.
also there is a lot of warm air to over come at the start..the greens and dack look sweet tho

You're insane.

Man made snow degrades like shit compared to natural. Your next trip has to be to MRG or Jay. Stratton and Mountain Creek suck donkey balls. Next time you think of posting uninformed drivel, take a deep breath and step away from the computer.

Hoping for the best for the Catskill folk, but the trend is certainly not anyone's friend here.  Hoping for a southern correction at 00z.
Can we get SOME snow?  Please?

I tried to make Creek work one year (my son was almost born) and I could not go far away.  I never could deal with the crowd.  I skied from 8 till 10:30  and had to leave.  As everyone knows I hate crowds and skiers that don't respect others so I might be more sensitive to the place.  The lines was 20 mins to take a 10 min run.
On piste is better then no piste

Catskills look out of the loop, though peaks may get some

Manmade snow vs natural?  Would take real anyday, better less round crystals

Black diamonds, the easy way down, less moving hazzards

Jason - You need to get yourself a good Maine Coon - mine has curled up under the covers, never seen this before. I think it means 20+ inches in the southern Daks. Deer were out in the front yard digging up the last of the crab apples that fell last fall and I haven't seen the local fox all week. Problem with you weather guys is you pour over the maps and computer models and never look out the window . This is gonna be big.
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.
