Finally got out this week , played 3 times . results so far meh  85, 84 ,85. Silly stick and the small stick working fine , my approaches need work if i' m using the blades . If i bump and run with a hybrid or fly it in with a hybris its much better .
Nothing wrong with those scores WD  very respectable.

I'm kinda getting the itch to hit it, go find it, and hit it again....maybe next week I'll get out.

Pro is off to a good start this year----thru 3 events..... T8, W, T3, cashing in all three

Nice interview with Lindsey Vonn, although she has now broken up with Tiger - I can certainly tell she feels about golf just like I do

Fast forward to about 31:43 to see how she just loves Golf.

Finally had a strong  ( for me ) round this season a 38/40 /78 .. Approach finally felt "dialed in ". .

Conditions are such now that we are getting some roll and the greens are holding nicely , i am a happy camper .

That is some nice shooting.  Are you playing from the old man tees? If so you need to move back and give some people a chance against you.

Thanks guys , i do. Practice my short game stuff .  Tj to answer you question , ill be 72 monday . My course pro told me i should beplaying the sr tees now.

BUT i dont yet , what i do is take his other suggestion to play a blend based on PGA recommendations ,, so one formula was to multiply your avg 5 iron distance and multiply that by a factor of 36. I hit that about 160 yds so i play a course around 5800- 6000 yds based on that . So its a blend on my home course which means all par threes play from the blues , anthing over 450 i play the golds ,,,,,, comes out about 5900 yds on my home course.

Another formula i have seen factors your driving distance

For an old fart thisworks , when i had open heart surgery 6 yrs ago , they opened me up like a fn lobster and then. They fn GLUE ya back togeter so the upper chest wall muscles atrophy regardless of how much you work out. I am in the damn gym 3days a week yr round ..........bottom line you have to adjust to circumstances , but one leaguei play in srs all usethe golds but i aint ready for total conversion just yet ........ I is a stubborn old bastid

Nice shooting

I'm a big fan of play it forward to make golf more fun and speed up play.   The concept is to play tees so that on your average drive you should be hitting a reasonable iron into a par 4 as the joke was designed.  It's no fun having to hit hybrids or woods into par 4 unless they are the maybe one long one over round as the course was laid out.

Th LP club just came out with new combo scored tees on the links.  On 2 par 4s that were over 460 from the blues you move up to the whites.  Also a 210 par three and an almost 600 yard par 5.  Lots of fun that way turns bogie holes into birdie holes.  Shot 73 the other day from them with less than my A game.  I think I will be in the 60s with a game.  I won't play them all the time but will use them playing a casual round with my son or dad or a quick week night round.  Still over 6000 yards.

JTG4eva!
Who says watching golf isn't exciting?  I'm only 'watching' via the iWanamaker scoring site and I'm on the edge of my seat.  My daughter is playing in the NY Section 1 Championship (first round of Sectionals) and she is +4 through 4.......where's the nail biting emoji?

Par 3s......how do you feel about them?  They are short holes, but does that mean easy?  Very little room for error on a par 3.  My daughter just had her worst hole of the day.  Plus 3 on a par three to put her +8 through 6.

Biggest swing holes are par 3s

From my perspective as a low single digit hcp player they are the Easiest holes to both birdie or bogey.  Typically the tee shot is very unforgiving and the green well protected by sand and slope.

Yep u can be a hero or a goat on the par 3 . Played 3 times this week 8o , 81 , 82'. Played the par 3'sm meh. Mostly pars ,2 birds and a freakin double bogey .    as coach says Tee. Shot  is key      The par  3!greens are well protected with hazards ,ponds , woods , traps and all four are tiered with tough hole placements usually on top or side of a  slope ... So accuracy is a must .

Got a new clone toy this week a HYBRID wedge !  it plays more like an attack wedge I can be fairly accurate with it in 60 - 90 yd range depending on whether i choke it up or not .

Still playing with the notion of better to hit down on it or sweep it . Contraditory advice from most of the stuff i have watched for hybrid wedges .      i play all my other hybrids ( 2,3, 4, 5') like iron shots and that works for me . i also love my 4 hybrid choked up for bump and run approaches in strong wind or branch obstructed shots bump and runs where i can deloft it

After hitting the new wedge for a while on the range to  try and figure it out , placed a couple of approaches yesterday inside a ft and half so happy with it so far . Cloned it dirt freaking cheap .

Re: Be The Ball

I started taking the game serious again this year after an 8 year hiatus.  16.2 and dropping.  My drive is killing me just cant relax enough to release through the ball.  Huge fade and when I try to hard I snap it. Oh the frustrations.  I was bored so bought the R-15 to replace my R-5.  I should have spent the money on hookers and blow.

Been hitting the range every day for about a month.  Its getting there but a long ways to go.  I don't think I will ever shoot in the 70's.  Never did before, got down to a 8 and that's where I am looking to get to in the next month.

TJ, we'll be at WF this year so be sure and talk to Pro about your tee ball.......he is an excellent driver of the ball and is a great teacher as well. He talks to you in plain English so hacks like us can understand. He saves all the technical bs for those who like that kinda talk.

Actually, upload a vid on here and I'll bet he can help you that way. I've always struggled trying to get better by myself on the range. I just seemed to always groove my bad habits instead of changing them.

With every club but long hybrids on up to driver you want hit down on the ball.  My 3 hybrid thru driver I thing think about more of a sweeping type stroke.

My fav drill to relax and move from the back foot to front on the drive is to take two practice swings back to back with nice  even tempo of back and forth swing in a row.  Back and thru.  You should have each shoulder touch your chin. It's all about tempo and a nice full swing but not too far back.

Where are you playing?  I'd be happy to play with you sometime.  I play at LP Club.
