Or just poach Approach from the gondola.  Has plenty of natural on it.  Hiking to ski a trail that should be lift served is never in my plans.

They were testing the Summit Quad on Saturday and people were hiking to the summit.  Saw some tracks on Niagara from the top of Victoria.  Lots of natural snow up there.

You get r*in at this point, you can kiss your hopes of skiing Hoyt's or WT bye-bye.  Last year, they wasted 2 days of snowmaking on WT and then decided not to open it.  That means they'll likely be very cautious about moving up there this year and in subsequent years.

Anyone got any cookies for Sno?

While 6 inches of snow Saturday night would be better than a half an inch of ncp......a brief rain event isn't going to doom Lookout.

Figured that as an engineering student I had better do the math on WF's snowmaking instead of speculating and whining.  They're permitted to draw up to 6000 gpm.  If they're running max water, that's 54 acre feet/day.  Earlier I read that they only do 30 acre feet/day, so they don't run at max water ever.  That means air is the limiting factor.  If air capacity is increased, they can run more guns and open quicker.

Maybe. You also need to factor in will/desire. Might be that's all they want to blow for various reasons.

Why bother hiking for fresh when you can sit in the lodge eating corn dogs and wait for the lift served groomers? :D

If you increase capacity, you might not blow all that much more snow.  You'd just get it done earlier in the year.  Since Whiteface is ORDA, they can get as much money as the state gives them.

And how much is that exactly? How much are they pulling in right now and how much is the current overhead? I'm not a business guy but I imagine that there is more to it then you make it sound like.

Lots of ins and outs and what have yous.

Excellent callback. It's funny. Kailua is one of the brands I sell. A couple years ago they finally noticed the movies was helping their visibility and tried to incorporate Lebowskifest into their marketing.

The real question is whether Lebowski is the best Coen bros. Everything is pretty good with Lebowski though. It's basically flawless. Like Julianne Moore's weird art character, Turturro, they all nail it.
