Re: Whiteface Conditions

A bunch of trails closed today, some are probably just icy from the refreeze and need to be groomed multiple times to be skiable.

Lookout chair was on hold all day, so hopefully that was due to wind and not lack of snow.

bro,  that wasn't snow they blew over there - it was fake snow or alternative snow.  It's all gone!  start another petition as this was the ultimate bait and switch!

Parts of the trail wash out really easy with a gully washer.  This trail is sub optimal at best.

Heard things up high all froze up solid today so that is why it was closed.  Will need to be groomed again to open.

Zero new snow in Potsdam.  Glad Whiteface got some.  They started resurfacing in the usual spots to prevent going iceface for the weekend.

Lookout is now reported open again, although only Wilmington was groomed.  Hoyt's is reported open, but not groomed, so it'll probably be updated to being closed and then be groomed soon.

My wife spoke to someone skiing this morning and 6" was confirmed on Mt Run so there very well may be more higher up on the summit.

Powder is a bit of a stretch though its more like cement but that will be good as it sticks to waterfall ice so the slides are not toast.  It also will be good to fill in over the rocks and stumps in the woods.

Re: Whiteface Conditions

that doesn't make much sense, radar didn't support 6 inches of high liquid snow and upper level temps were very cold so any snow that they would have received should have been powder.  This is a mystery to me if they really got 6 inches.

If the photo of the day is from today (sno....any conspiracies on this one?), the 6 is legit.

Does anyone think Hoyt's will be groomed for the weekend so it's skiable again?
