Nothing says "I'm a real fun guy" like coming in and giving statistics to people preparing to do something that they enjoy.
You said it was really flat to ski, so I looked up how steep it was and compared it to certain areas of the ski resort.  That has nothing to do with people enjoying it or not.  If you enjoy it, then by all means do it and have a good time.

I like to think of things quantitatively so I'm an engineering student.

You used to always flame me, but that stopped when I started arguing with PeeTex about politics.  I'm guessing that with the election pretty much a done deal that you'll go back to your old ways.

Re: Whiteface Conditions

Looks like the snowmaking Whiteface has done so far has been exclusively with the fan guns at the base.  They haven't made any snow with the air guns yet.  I know the reason for this.

When ski areas make snow, they must pay a demand charge for electric for each calendar month that they're running compressors.  Whiteface likely pays it for November, December, January, and February.  They do not pay it for October.  That means that they can't run compressors and only the fan guns are used.

My previous home mountain did the same thing.  They would pay the fee for December, January, and February but not in November.  Therefore any November snowmaking was done with fan guns and the water was gravity fed.

So now that Sno is a WF pass holder he's going to tell people who are local and have skied the mountain for decades all about it.

You should really try to tone down the know it all spiel you always have going on. It won't serve you well in life.

I am going to enjoy this season reading Sno's posts on WF. He will be giving WF management so many good suggestions.

Grillman
I am wondering if I will show up at Mid to find that Sno is using my grill without asking first.  That would be funny.

As for the reason for not using the guns, I think that WF will be using them shortly.

Being defensive won't help you Sno. Mountain Creek will always be your home mountain. That's nothing to be ashamed of. Just don't try to convince people it's some big awesome thing. It's part of your history, just like Jiminy is for me and Mt Peter is for my kids. Be proud.

Re: Whiteface Conditions

My home mountain was Hidden Valley from 03-04 to 05-06.  It was Mount Peter from 06-07 to 12-13.  It was Mountain Creek from 13-14 to 15-16.  It will be Whiteface from 16-17 to 19-20.  After that, I have no idea.

I can't say I won't miss MC at all.  I certainly won't miss the Disney style crowds and lift lines, or the maddening racing closures of my favorite terrain, or the flying garbage can lift.

However, I'll miss having a ski area 20 minutes from where I live.  I could go pretty much whenever I wanted for as little or as long as I wanted.  Whiteface is nearly 2 hours away.  While Titus is half that distance away, I'm not sure exaxtly how or if my workload wiIl allow for night skiing, so I have not bought a pass, at least not yet.  That being said, skiing Whiteface twice a week is pretty hard to complain about, and I'm nearly certain that I'll have time to do that.  I also had some friends that I skied with a lot that won't be at Whiteface.  I'll have to find new people to ski with so I'm not always going solo.

Clarkson has a van that brings kids to WF. I don't think its every weekend, but it is often.

Sign the petit homme up for Host Patrol already.  He can be TJF's tail gunner for first tracks and apprentice!   That be a reality TV show worth making!!

Kid wouldn't last a second with TJ, but for that one second it would be pure gold --- I'd show up just to watch it unfold
