Gore opened Lies today. Snoloco would be proud.

Maybe he'll visit us more at Gore now that he's on Santa's naughty list at WF..

I am impressed with Gore's terrain expansion abilities this year. The weather has been good, but I'm guessing this also has to do with the additional 2k GPM they added this year

I need to get up to Gore soon.
I'll take boilerplate ice over wet snow any day

The things sno complained about. I'm wondering what will come of it all. (The no fun police and the Gondi loading debacle)
Now back to Gore, North side will open Saturday.

I haven't been to Gore since December 4, but I have been disappointed the snowmaking this year.  In spite of long periods of cold weather, it seemed like they were only making snow with moveable guns mostly on trails they needed for access to Straightbrook or other areas. I didn't see any evidence of the new improvements they have been talking about, and there were rumors that the new system wasn't complete.  Am I wrong? Have things improved?

MM I agree from what I have seen or not seen more accurately and what I skied on last Sunday the 9th. Others please correct me.

A lot of hullabaloo over whether or not this new system is a win!

Boy, you guys are tough, dropping the hammer Double Barrel on management when it’s so early in the season.

I don't know what all this negative Chatimac is about.  They've really Quicksilvered their snow operations and have got the place covered under a Cloud.

Seriously, they've got great coverage for this early in the season.  I'm sure it has as much to do with temps as improved capabilities.

mm,

I skied Gore yesterday and today.  The gremlins afflicting the new pumphouse have been brought to heel, the new wand guns are evident on several trails, especially Topridge.  The snowmakers have blown the most snow I've ever seen on Topridge, still Styrofoam whales, not yet groomed from last week.  Chatimac had 20' whales on it, groomed twice, skies real nice.  Hawkeye was hero snow Wednesday being ripped by NYSEF coaches @ full-on race tilt.  Lies on Wednesday was slough powder for its opening, most snow ever blown 20-30' near sheer drops, no bull.  Today Lies skied yikes!, Double Black Diamond Dog I Dare You!  No kid's groups on Lies until it's groomed.   Oh and Rumor,  started blowing Sunday, still at it, hopefully the Glacier will hold and not avie.

Lower mountain getting some attention, Lower Showcase for NYSEF, Wild Air for cruising. Mtn badly need snow on 3B and has yet to address Lower Sunway/Otter Slide & Twister.  This weekend will be interesting as Lower Mountain will be jammed like Christmas Week.

64er - happy new season, and great intel!

I am thinking of sneaking up to Gore next Friday/Saturday - is there anything like the ski races this weekend that would make Gore particularly crowded on Friday/Saturday the 21st and 22d?

Hopefully I'll get to say hello in person this season.  Please tell Joe C. and Ed that Dom said hi.

Ski you on the hill : )
