Don't flatter yourself

Stoked.  It'll be Day 1 for me (got married in early Jan. and didn't want to risk injury for wedding or honeymoon, lol) so I'll be super out of shape.  Looks like a brutally cold one too. Windchill values at or around -13F.

So temp forecast dropped 10 degrees. Pictures r getting me pumped. Could b quick hitter tomorrow 8:30 - 12:30 in glades off sagamore.  Is there a crust layer in there?

Someone said lower glades were a bit crusty, but I didn't try them so I don't know.  Upper mountain is tracked but it will still be fun tomorrow.  Just cold AF

So website says 4 glades. Darby woods, Trench, Otter Slide, and Straight Brook glades. There's got to be more opening tomorrow, no?
(Also says Straight Brook left ungroomed for powder hounds)

McIntyre was open.  That was what I skied.  

I got the feeling that there is liberality to ski, but lots of you guys know better than me.  

One cautionary note.  I got the sense that some closed trails had five inches of powder, an inch of ice, and then many inches of powder on top of the ice.  Can be fun, but if you break through the ice layer you can get caught up or have a pole go deep.  

Enjoy tomorrow guys.  I will be at belle.  Got to pine hill after nine.  Totally worth it.  

And Stielhang (sp?) should be fun tomorrow.  Open pit was fun but by the end it was packed down.  

No Gondola at Gore

Good conditions. AE2 to High peaks chair to Lies to Straight Brook is the only way  for me. BR wasn't up as of 9am. Headed to Saddle for lunch. Hope I don't regret it. 1st pic is Wood in. Backed up to North Quad.

Good day once you got to Straightbrook. We got lucky and hit Wood Out just as they dropped the rope and never looked back. The gondola was loading when we left at 1215.

We heard on a patrollers radio that they had to run wire from a transformer near BRQ to Bear to power the gondola and top ridge.

Well this AM was quite the S Show, but being my first day back out post back injury, I survived, I feel pretty good post skiing, and felt great getting back out there. I'm not complaining.

The afternoon helped redeem the morning lift debacle. I broke all my rules of taking it easy, no glades, groomers only, no moguls, etc. Conditions made me do it.

Was great to meet up with thegreatabyss as well and make turns together all day.

Provided I feel OK when I wake up tomorrow, I'll be back at it again.
