Re: Gore Conditions

Today was great. Very quiet, everything was open and everything skied great.  It snowed 1”/hr until 3 with about 2” at open. I spent most of the day at Burnt Ridge and Ski Bowl but the earliest part of the day skiing off the summit. Can’t pick a best lap.

Ski Bowl Glade at 2:30

That looks awesome Jon,

I also skied Gore yesterday and thought about heading to the Ski Bowl Glades but was worried they wouldn't be open mid week, and didn't want to waste a run down to that slow chair.  They are too remote to poach alone on a weekday for my taste.

Otherwise I concur that it was a great day, I basically hit most of the major glades on the mountain.  I took a few runs down Dark Side right under the HP chair at 3:00PM and there were still a few untouched lines.   I would say the upper mountain got about 4 inches by the time the snow subsided around 3.  It was more of a smearing day than a full on pow day, but when there's a solid base that's all it takes.

Also I'm on the front page of the website right now - https://www.goremountain.com/

Nice shot TGA.

I must say that even with our modest snow totals Gore has had some good storm results this year.

Looks like SoVT went over to rain last night.

Thanks!

When I pulled out of NC around 4:30 it was snowing @32 degrees.  By the time I got down to Warrensburg it was raining at about 34.

Gore was right on the line.

Will probably be arriving at the ski bowl late, nursing a chest cold, going to ski it out of me!

Wow what a day. Burnt Ridge of course, but also upper mountain trees really nice, finding unaffected snow.

New twist on an old saying, gotta go to know, and see EDeO.

Sig I know exactly what happened, so sorry man.

Was there in the AM. Very nice conditions. Light was flat on Rumor so only did that once. Did not hit the glades, lapped lies a few times and then headed out. Crowds not too bad.
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.

North Quad’s been going down today - was delayed in getting to ski bowl but 46er was AMAZING.  Dont know what made them decide to give it so much love this year but it was by far my favorite today.

Great day overall - drove last night after work to grab this bonus day - had to do it when I saw the rain in the forecast.

I was slammed by a nasty chest cold and relinquished to feeding wood into the stove all weekend.

So Harvey I am calling a rain check on the 46er for another day.

Even with the warm up coming mid-week the mountain should pick up 4-6"....think positive.

not so sure about that:

As usual, waiting for the track of the low!  Majority of QPF this week is Wed night into Thursday.  Gore will be dicier, but looking like it may transition early enough that the summit sees 4-ish inches.  Up at WF should be cold enough at that time to pick up 8 at the summit.

I'm so amped up by Harvey's Gore pics that I had to post this latest forecast graphic.

Gore Forecast
Forecast courtesy of Weather Underground

If this happens, there will be some epic skiing heading our way.  The initial dump on Wednesday will be wet and heavy, bonding to the existing surface, followed by a top coat of powder on Thursday.

With the glades broken in as they have been over the past few weeks, there should be good turns in the trees.
