It's a fucking thunder and lightning storm, in CNY right now. Buildings getting demolished down in Florida by tornadoes today. My whole house is shaking from the thunder, and the rain and wind is slamming into the walls with more intensity than I'm acustomed to in August. It's 53 degrees in Oneonta. This storm is demolishing buildings and I have no reason not to believe that it will demolish the snow. I have no reason to expect there will be  skiable snow by Friday.
I hope you survived the storm with no damage. It certainly sounds like you had a nerve wracking evening.

HaHa! I thought the reported base never changed due to the Snomax additive. That's amazing stuff!

It's good to hear they are getting ready to let the snow fly. A little natural whites stuff on the ground is always a good thing to brighten up a depressing situation.

I'm out of town on business, so won't be skiing for the next week or so. Hopefully, snow recovery will occur by then.

Woke up to 3 inches of snow on my truck so I headed up to give it a shot. One run and done. I know they are trying but it was awful...

Looked like a pond on the webcam yesterday - a few inches of light stuff won't help with that frozen up underneath it. Maybe if they can groom and make a little snow they'll be ok this weekend.

Saturday turned out to be a pretty decent day, given what they had to work with.  Some icy and/or thin spots here an there, but overall nice.  They had blown snow Friday night on Iliad and groomed it out around 8 or so, and it skied pretty well all day.  Odyssey was in good shape, as was Fields.  I think my favorite for the day was Hercules, they did well with that.

So, anybody want to start predicting when the last day will be?

It's pretty thin out there. I'll go with 3/20 as the last day.

I'm going to have to agree with you.  Even if they could potentially squeeze another day or two after that, I doubt they'd be able to hold out until the 27th, so why try.

(1 MAR 16) Cortland, NY – Greek Peak Mountain Resort is preparing and positioning the snow guns and will restart snowmaking this week, starting Wednesday night. Snowmaking will continue through Sunday when temperatures allow. This will be the first for Greek Peak; typically snowmaking ends for the season in February.

“We want to do everything possible to provide the best conditions and hope to lengthen the ski season for our patrons,” says Wes Kryger, President of Greek Peak Mountain Resort. Kryger goes on to say, “This week’s snowmaking should extend the season by at least two weeks.”

Despite warmer seasonal temperatures, along with Greek Peak Mountain Resort’s robust snowmaking capabilities, they currently have 21 open trails. After this week’s snowmaking they will have 24 trails and 6 chairlifts open. Their Mountain Crew will focus on main trails such as Iliad, Karyatis Way, and Alpha Slope. The resort is planning to stay open until April 3rd.

Thanks for the update, Harvey.

On an aside, Toggenburg passes are now on sale.

This is great news.  I was there last night and it was very icy, so it's good to hear that for better or worse, they're going to be making snow.  Kudos to them for trying to squeeze out what they can for us.

P.S. 21 Trails...LMAO.  That must be counting the lift line, ticket line, bar, and each row of the parking lot.

They do exaggerate just a wee bit. With that said, Camelback and Blue Mountain have 100% of their terrain open, so Greek Peak closing is certainly not an option from a PR standpoint. I love; however, how Wes notifies the public via a press release--like it's amazing news that a ski area will be making snow.

Here's an interesting tid bit:

A Greek Peak pass is priced at $399 + $25 if you include Toggenburg for a total of $424.
A Toggenburg pass is priced at $275 + $174.90 if you include Greek Peak for a total of $449.90.

Why would a Togg pass with add-on cost more? My guess is that Togg does not have a resort fee, but GP does. When you do the math, the two passes come out to be pennies of each other.
