Re: Greek Peak Conditions

Turd Ferguson
One more MTB week to go, hopefully the weather holds out, but it's not looking to great again.  Wish I could make it up to the Hops & Swaps this year, but apparently we're in the prime of little kid birthday party season.

Anybody got predictions for opening day this year?

It's good to see that there's some activity out there after all, Big D. That's a pretty good shot of the lift mechanics at work.
Hey RJ, found a couple more GP lift maintenance photos from back in July:

There is no way!

Even being tethered on, it takes a special person to work at those heights.

Now that's how you do a ski swap
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.

gorgonzola
that's awesome! i wouldn't  have dreamed of missing a skiers picnic back in the day, last few years not so much. I was thinking about heading up this past weekend but we had our local hs football rivalry game (more of a tailgate since we got blown out) and a big mtb race event sunday (volunteer, not racer). glad to hear it was a success, hopefully catch it next year.

I'm really bummed about not making it up for mtb again this year  last year was the hip, this year my schedule and the weather just wouldn't align...

Let's put it this way ---- I rolled in there about 4, the parking lot was filled all the way up to Stavlos condos ---- almost as if it was a POW day.

This was as close to a "real" skiers picnic I've seen there in years.

At least it's the Friday before Christmas week and not smack dab in the middle of the holiday week.

I hope they really advertise those free/discounted days well this year.  I don't want to miss hearing about it, and show up on one of those days.

By the way, I was up through there yesterday, and can tell you that chair 5 conditions are already rivaling those of last year.

FYI, there's a post on FB that GP's resort fee, a fee charged on everything from F&B to lift tickets, increased to 8% this year.

I wouldn't have it any other way, Camp.

I do; however, feel that their new $39 mid-week ticket is an effective marketing idea to bring in some additional traffic when it is a virtual ghost town. The only change I would make is to not charge the resort fee on it (or include it in the $39). Customers seeking a value do not like perceived negative surprises, despite the significant drop in price.
