Re: Greek Peak Conditions

Hoser
Spartan race was awesome. Ran it today with me daughter.  Weather was good.  Cool but not cold.   Just over an hour and a half for four miles many obstacles and too many burpees

Kudos to all of involved.  No hassles no lines no waits from buses to register to bags to beers.   Super well run.   Really smooth.  Will be sore tomorrow from falls and up and down Odessey and Olympia. Not the top    All the runners were good sports too.

Oh so Lower odessey and upper Olympia have freshies and almost knee deep.  Patrol got it. Looked so Fun especially after running and falling through the woods next to it.

According to their website they truly DID raise the price of their season passes. I can't believe they did that. Bush League stuff right there imo. There's gonna be some noise over this, and I can't blame long time season pass holders for being pissed right the fuck off.
Good thing some people got in on the "secret" sale period that occurred because GP's website is so well run. I wonder if those counted toward the 450 who got the lowest pricing.

Up to $500 on the passes.

While the "sale" went about as well as signing up for Cornell's wines course (according to GP's FB page), the actual increase from last year's pass price of $459 plus the resort fee of $36 means that the current price of $500 is only $5 more than last year's.

Still, I am not a fan of this year's marketing plan.

Camp says it builds excitement. Aren't you excited that you get to pay more than someone who bought their passes two days ago?

There must be huge lines at GP this year. Just never when I'm there.

So I skied GP this weekend, and the Spartan race was well run. There was nobody on the slopes, so it was an overall good day. I did hear in the afternoon that pass prices had already increased to $475, which shocked me. I totally called that one incorrectly, as I assumed they would hold the price for some time regardless of the number of passes sold.

I did chat with some GP passholders that visited Tog on Saturday, and three of them actually dumped their GP passes for $250 Tog passes for next year. They actually live closer to Tog, so wanted to give it a try next year. That was sort of interesting.

What was the deal with the dinosaur today?  I saw him/her get off the Alpha chair. Very cute!

I'm heading to Killington for a few days. It will hopefully be equally as dead as GP was this weekend.

Are you sure they were $459 + 8% last year? I thought they were $409 +8%.  I meant to look when I was home last week, but it totally slipped my mind.

Last years price was $425 + 8% resort fee for a total of $459

That's what I found, too.  GP says $459 plus the resort fee on their FB page.

That makes $459 to $500 a rather large jump.  :(

Thanks for the clarification.

So the "big savings" that Greek was referring to was $9 if you were able to purchase early.

I'd assume they were referring to savings over the price if you weren't able to purchase early (i.e. - $500 if you were going to purchase today), not a savings over last year's price.

Hmmmmm, you'll have to show me where I said excitement.

I said during a sale: A. create urgency then B. extend the sale due to overwhelming response.

If you interpreted that as excitement, well, then, you are easily entertained.

They got the first part but blew the second part monumentally.

Part of selling goods and services is to create a brand then create brand loyalty. Seems like Greek is now the brand that cried wolf.

Yes, that was likely the case.

They should have just charged $10,000 for the pass and offered a 95% savings. Now that would have been "big."

was in the Welcome center Sunday morn and there were about 6-8 people wanting to buy their passes and were told that it was $475 already and they were pissed.  They claimed they were pass holders and homeowners for more than 10 years...and didn't care that they had turned it into a race to see who could get on the internet quickest to buy a pass.  They bought but indicated they would be sending letters

I'm sure they'll be getting many...

someone had to come up with the idea and someone had to approve the idea...I think it should have been thought out a little bit...and then trashed.

Was talking with a guy on the lift about it and he had said his son works at GP and heard that it was a rouse and that they would extend it...told him he better get to the welcome center quickly...he was dropping a ton of f-bombs and got on the phone as soon as we reached the top to call his son

The pricing seems very popular on GP's facebook page

I wonder if the "secret sale" that started before the 10th counted toward the first 450 pass holders?

Anyone who picked up a pass before GP got wise and locked down the secret sale until the 10th get any indication they won't honor the early purchase?

What a cluster.
