Ayep.  I heard someone yelling "Stay down! Stay down!" last year.  I also saw a liftie get hit by chair 5 while trying to help someone out.  Slowing down a several hundred pound chair, while trying to manage minions is not something I would want to do.

I could, however, be a badass in directing traffic. I point DQs (dressage queens) toward the right ring at horse shows and get them there on time.  Some of them would make the most clueless newbie skier seem like a walk in the park.

It is spelled liftie folks. Jeez.
Doubt there’s and official way to spell it.
I claim the right of self description. We took an informal poll on “Lifties of the World Unite!” and my fellow former and current lifties agreed- it applies to both the plural and singular by the way.

That A-Frame is just the coolest building. I wish we had the biz to warrant opening that back up. I recall being a kid thinking how they made the best pizza and chocolate milkshakes on the planet there.
I loved their ice cream Sunday’s! Nowadays I question eating ice cream in the middle of the winter, but as a kid, those Sunday’s were golden.

That guy looks familiar.

Actually I rode with Roach, and yea he teased me about how I was holding on for dear life.

Today did not suck. I went with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised! 😁 Yes, it was sloppy in places. Yes, there were a bunch of newbies and/or people who were having so much fun with their families that they forgot they were standing in line.

It was the kid who cut me, as in almost running over my skis that reminded me why I get out of there by noon.

Happy New Year!

Did you run over any jagged rocks?

Thankfully, all the jagged rocks were well marked by surrounding areas of brown dirt so they were easy to see and avoid, even for old people.

Today was a nice surprise for me. Snow was mashed potatoes all around. Chair 5 was open, Mars was thin, but actually quite skiable. Taught 10 and 2:00 beginner classes, and both groups were never-evers intent on learning and having lots of fun. Naturally the small yoga-girl was leading the 5 pack. I got to free ski for a couple of hours.

The problem was rocks on the unloading ramp to the quad.  I do think it's reasonable for the lifty to rake them out.

Especially if you ask him nicely if he could PLEASE rake the rocks, and there still there your next trip up. I even told him he could leave the pebbles, just remove the jagged rocks, still there. I can't take it anymore, I think I'm gonna buy a snowmobile.

I started my day on the bunny slope, around 10:30.  It is so much fun watching people learn to ski.  :)  Everybody is having such a good time!  Soon, they too will get addicted to this crazy concept of strapping board to your feet to go down a hill.  :)  You have a good job, Dougski!  :)

Hey, my mom turned 90 on Christmas day, she enjoys grocery shopping now because she can lean on the cart, take the pressure off her bone on bone knees and glide around the store.

I don't think I'm ready to give up skiing for snowmobiling yet. I think I will forgo the Greek pass next season and get an Epic pass. I want to be able to ski Mt Snow on Holiday weekends. Look at all those potential friends!

That would be a good place for you. Most likely a better fit for you. After all  all you like organized liftlines. You can stand in a well organized line for what, an hour?

To be fair, in those photos, the two high speed detachable lifts to the summit were iced over and damaged by lightning strikes. The holiday crowds were all trying to line up for an old, slow fixed grip triple Ego Alley. This is not business as usual there. This photo is much much worse than a typical holiday at Mt. Snow.

So normally all of those people would be together on the actual ski runs? Yikes.

Snowshoeing or mountain biking would be a much better option imo than skiing around so many people.

What do those guys carry in their back packs? Avie gear and climbing gear for the Mount Snow North Face?
