You could literally get more runs in by doing skin laps all day and have your ticket purchase cash for apres beers when you’re done.

This stuff is seriously getting out of hand.

Too many people.
Take a hike in the woods and come back after the holidays.
I would not be surprised if resorts start offering premium tickets that get you through a special gate at the lift and priority in line. Hell - Disney has gotten away with that. I know they already have early access passed, so it’s not far off if it hasn’t already happened.
I have a season pass so I can leave the house a half hour before the traffic and ski for three or four hours depending on when it starts to become too crowded for me and then leave. I’ll do this or if the snow is good, go for a big walk all day long. We only saw two other people on our last tour. We were out for 6 hours!

Pretty slow today, especially for a Holiday. Conditions were pretty good, they picked up maybe an inch, but they blew on several trails and didn't groom it. Fields, and Odyssey. It skied real nice. A bit heavy, had to link turns, no tail sliding, creamy though. Saw Camp in Trax, been awhile. Happy New Year everyone.

Jagged Rock Guy on Odyssey, left my tiara in the truck.

I think Stratton has that- or at least they seemed to two years ago, the only season I skied there. Taking a private lesson has the same effect right? At least for part of the day.

We’ve been at Killington the last several days, and experienced power outages and iced lifts, however, we did not stand in any lines of the magnitude of Mount Snow’s. Some of them at Killington were certainly longer than usual. I also read that people were standing in five hour lines at Disney World this week to ride a two minute ride. That’s one of the reasons we like Greek Peak—minimal lines even during holiday periods. People just aren’t driving past the Catskills and Poconos anymore, so we have the place all to ourselves.

Stratton has the Stratton Mountain club, which is a membership program. They have a private lodge, private parking, and special lift lines that circumvent the conventional line. The lodge is beautiful, and right at the base of the mountain near the gondola. There is currently a waiting list for membership.

Conditions late today were nice. Yes the snow blasters were on last night and were starting up again at about 8:00pm. Tomorrow should be nice too.

Heads up guys. Starting tomorrow afternoon it will get more crowded as elementary, middle and high school ski programs and their buses arrive in the afternoons. And it sounds like there are going to be more kids this year. On weekdays they arrive between 3 and 4pm. Weekends at anytime. Biggest impact at first is always on the carpet lifts and Alpha... But as the season ages, the kids get better and spread out all over the hill.

I'm off for a few days.

Ski More!

Don't care what's at the end of that line. I wouldn't even get out of my truck.

Camp - you'll excuse anything at GP, we get it. You don't ski, and if you did you're cool with whatever happens. The lift line - omg it's such a small thing but SO EASILY SOLVABLE, which is why some people bitch about it a lot.
Willy - just because I haven't skied in the last 2 years (due to an injury) doesn't mean I don't ski. I can't bowl anymore because of the same injury but still consider myself a bowler. Hopefully you never have an injury that keeps you from doing the sports you enjoy. But if you do I'll share your pain.
And yeah, I've learned not to waist energy on things I can't control, such as unorganized, very short, liftlines.

Talked to a liftie last night about disorganized lift lines. They are aware and are trying to (nicely) herd the cats to fill each chair when its busier. But, to be frank, they are faced with doing so in a customer friendly way and are dealing with morons and idiots. For example, last night one liftie was faced with a group of 10 idiots who decided to wait for a straggler who was still coming down the hill. They didn't realize the person was missing until they were at the loading gates. So they just stopped and wouldn't get on the lift. A couple of empty chairs went up hill. The liftee did his job, politely told them they should get on the chair.... Much to everyone's surprise they decided to try to let others go by them while they blocked much of the line. Result was what we'd expect: more empty chairs, and a 5 minute confused line of skiers.

I witnessed this while I was free sking without a lesson.

For sure!! That's why I've asked the questions to those complaining if they've ever been a liftie. If you've never done it, and think it's easy, obviously you've never dealt with the public. They can be very disappointing at times.

I was at Tremblant over XMAS and they had some sort of fast pass that enabled you to skip the lift line.

It's already happening

Ayep. Three days ago, someone's granny stood at the side of the ropes, waiting for the rest of her party. She was kind enough to let me know that she was just waiting. WTF? The waiting room is in the back, Missy.  Another dude did the same thing today. Idjit.

Meanwhile, there were two types of moms on Iliad today. One, who sent her two kids snow plowing one behind the other, across the span of the trail so you couldn't get by them, and one who told her son to wait his turn because others were dropping in. While I am a huge fan of kids learning to ski, if they have to snow plow, perhaps they need to be on the bunny slope.  Be like mom#2. :)

Greek is for people who like to wait for their friends in line, and snowplow on black diamonds. If you don't like to wait for your friends in line, or snowplow on black diamonds, perhaps you should ski elsewhere.

In all honesty, if you have trouble avoiding kids snowplowing on Illiad,  you probably shouldn't be there either. Now those race camp kids snaking across the entire trail are much more challenging to get by.

Umm, I never said I couldn't get by them.  It's nice that I know how to use my brakes and not run into him face on.  Literally.  I think I stopped about ten feet before smacking into him.  He was on his nice traverse, making his perfect turns across the face of the slope, little sister five feet behind him. He had no clue that I was there.  Mom never told him to watch where he was going.

It's just a reminder why I get there early and get out early.

PS I love to watch the race camp kids.  The coaches rock.  My favorite drill so far is watching them ski down the hill with showballs on a lunch tray.  :)  I just try to ski where they are not, since the dig the hell out of the snow.

It's all about hiring the right people and training them. New hires at Greek Peak show up and are trained by the person standing next to them, who also hasn't been trained.

If it's not true, why such a mess? From a customer service standpoint, things have become worse over the past seven years--not better. The best thing that happened recently is that Kaitlyn and Jessica departed, and Drew was hired.
