Understood. But it's a start. I just want the place to start racking up ski days.

From the Hickory website tonight:

"Hickory has received 8" of snow as of 6pm Friday.

Hickory will be open this weekend. The number of open trails and lifts will

depend upon the amount of snowfall. We will update our snowfall totals regularly

over the next 48 hours. Please check our website or Facebook.

Hopefully Mother Nature will cooperate with the forecasted 12" to 18" of snow!!!

Our days and hours of operation during the winter are:

Weekends, Holidays, and Holiday Weeks 9 AM to 4 PM"

After HSC opens the clock starts ticking on the HR Hickory Blogger Job.

Somebody get up there an POST A TR. Win a Seasons Pass!

Will be interesting to see what kind of snow totals Shawn puts up in the next few hours.

Radar has looked very good for HSC overnight.

We've had another 4-5 (?) in North River and the radar hasn't even really showed it.

"WoW!!! A webcam, what a novel idea"

"Where are Gores web cams?"

Another good argument to fire whoever is responsible for ORDA marketing. Pretty amazing that it doesn't exist.

Check out the new Killington webcam:  http://www.killington.com/winter/multimedia/webcam/K1mountaincam.html Real time video from four different locations. And, I'll bet they didn't hire a rocket scientist to set it up.

HSC didn't open as hoped.

Hard to believe based on what I saw but sound like little fell after 6pm Friday night. From the website:

"Hickory has received 8" of snow as of 8 am Saturday.

Hickory will NOT be open this weekend. :("

Snowmaking is very likely next season.

There are a lot of regulatory issues when the goal is to pump from the Hudson.

From Hickory Ski Center's website:

"Hickory has received 9" of snow this week and will open this weekend!!!!

The new groomer is laying down beautiful corduroy on the lower mountain!"

From Hickory Ski Center:

"We will open tomorrow with 3 lifts, up to mid-station on Poma 1.

Thin cover prevails, but we will offer a 20 dollar lift ticket."

Hickory's webcam 9:45 am:

It streams, and you can see it snowing at a good clip.

New rumors about Hickory.

Hickory has bought more adjacent land and has already or will very soon complete new trails.

Hickory is talkin about buying a chair for next season.

Hickory has already purchased a state of the art snowmaking system. It's the same system that Mt Snow purchased. Unclear if it's enough to cover the whole hill.

Snowballs will be buying Cristal Champagne and lobsters for all!

Ok. That last one is a stretch. But the others are floating around from some Hickory employees. Got see if we can verify this.

Rehash:

IDK, Many locals hold shares in it. Wish I did. The main driving force now is Brad or Brian Van Pelt( I think that's his name) a Texas rich dude who used to live in this area. He bought some shares, don't think it's a majority, but the locals still hold a large percentage of shares. I don't think there's any corporation involved, but things do change.

Give or take a little I'm pretty sure that's the scenario. MC2 used to ski there. Wonder what his ideas for the mtn would be.

Skied Hickory on Saturday.  Knee deep and untracked up top.  Best ski day I've had in the east this season.  The upper mountain has now been ski groomed.  There was still places to catch some untracked turns at the end of the day.  Pray for more snow.
