yes i too agree on the play it forward idea especially for those at both ends of the age spectrum or those new to the game .
Saw a neat formula , i think sponsored by the PGA ( could be mistaken on this ) to calculate the number of yards you should be playing based on how far one hits a 5 iron . The multiplier is 36 , so if you hit a 5 iron 160 yds x 36 = a course that is 5760 yds long . Our local pro told me this is a decent way to figure what one SHOULD be playing and to forget about your ego ;)
Another method he cited was average carry distance with a the BIG stick . SO for kicks since i am now 70 , i started using this and what it amounts to is Gold tees on the par 4and 5's ,, BUT using the BLUE tees on any DOGLEG par 4/5 and the Blue tees on the par 3's . makes for a interesting adaptation as one ages .
