Agree about PRO ur friend , these guys ARE seriously skilled and make it  look like  its easy . I envy their mad skillz.

I saw my Only albatross last season . a friend cranked one on a 565 yd par 5 . Tommy is not a huge guy either about 5' 8 " but he and his dad are great sticks , but play alot about 4-5 times a week . Great guys , no head issues at all , will play with anybody .

I learned alot from watching this guy , dude 's got a swing like BUTTAH ! ,smooth ,easy , but  da lil bastige gets it OOOUTT there well beyond mere mortals

So I bought a taylormade driver last year.  Not cheap.  I could not hit they thing to save my life.  I thought it was me so I hit it at the range probably a thousand times.  I couldn't get the ball on the sweet spot.  I decided I have had enough.  Sold it for 75 bucks, paid 450 end of last may.  I should have burned it I would have felt better.  Got the ping G driver.  Took it to the range.  It swung nice and I was hitting the sweet spot(or right around it) on every swing. Ok I thought I must be honey mooning.  Went out and played a round with it.  First three driving holes.  281, 295, 301. After that I stopped keeping track.  Of course my putting is not doing well right now but at least I'm not nervous on the tee box anymore.  So ping G driver 5 thumbs up!!

I've heard that new Ping is a darn good driver. I think Racer Ron is playing one now....if my game continues to improve I think I'll look into getting one at the end of the year. Right now my Taylormade is doing fine but I like getting new shit so why not.

Those numbers I gave are not BS either.  I am a 230 to 260 guy off the tee.  When I would hit a good one with the Taylor made I would track it.   I got the driving iron to replace the 4 iron as well.  The black Mamba we call it.  My buddies love it when I pull it out cause I cant hit it for shit.  Its a running joke they mark the card in there favor as soon as I pull it out.   The black Mamba is going to bite them though I've been working on it.

I have been changing my swing path and it starting to take hold.  I can hit a pretty decent draw on the range.  Out on the course I still have a slight fade but for the most part the slice is gone...for now.

I wish we had a match play champs like my former club.  I love match play.  There is a sort of club championship in the fall but it always seems to conflict with my sons sprting events.

My 13 year old son broke 90 for the first time today.  Played the LP Club Mt Course white tees with him.  He broke the shaft of his driver that came with his Wilson set about a month ago.  I got him a Taylormade Sldr women's length / flex (not pink thankfully) which he is now drilling off the tee about 225.  Stupidly I told him on the 18 tee to make sure he didn't make an 8 and he made a 7 for a 89.  To me it's better than If I shot a 69.  He played golf for his school this spring and earned a varsity letter as a 7th grader which is a pretty cool accomplishment.

Also made his first birdie on a par 5 today.

Recent rounds dropped mine to 4.4

I think I would have trouble playing to that anywhere but my home courses.  You only are supossed to play to it half the time as it's based on your best 10 of 20 scores.

Shot 83 on the lower last night from the blues, no whites.  triple on the second par five after a big drive on the left 15 yard in from of the sand trap.  Blew it from there.  Ten I hit a 245 yard 3 wood out of the rough on the right to 8 feet.  Missed the bird.  6 pars and 3 bogies on the back with 2 GIRs

Should be tolerable , if this  groin thing lets uo a little .   Unfortunately  my gym workout wed effed me up a bit , but back to tolerable ache  today . But the damn thing really hinders my driving off the tee box . Once on the short grass im ok it isn't  as big a turn for me .

Don't get suckered into trying to hit a 3 wood on #5 the sand traps on both sides narrow down that approach considerably.  I like to hit my 2nd shot to around the 100 yard marker where it's wider leaving an easy wedge into the green

Dude I hit a 5 iron and wiffed it into the trap 15 yards ahead of me.  Then I took the five to hit it out and put it up on top of the harry stuff 5 feet in front of that. Then just smacked it again to where I wanted my first shot to go. Then I fanned it right of the green flubbed a chip the chipped it close and out.  OMG I am sweating reliving it.

OK, we need to play --- I'd be spitting beer out of my nose laughing. I'd expect the same from you

Sorry to make you relive it
It really sucks when the wheels come off like that.  It usually takes me a couple of holes to get my chili down after that happens.

The sand right now at the LP Club is baffling me as well.  It's so firm that the club bounces into the ball or digs in and I never know which one it's going to do.  I'm finding the best way to go in a green side trap is to putt it out if there is no lip.

Re: The Golf Thread - 69

I've been flirting with a great round for a couple weeks.  Played this morning and made a tricky breaking 25 footer for birdie on 18 for a 69.  Just missed a hole in one on 4 again.  Teed off at 7:10 and finished at 9:45.  Really didn't make any mistakes.  The few bogeys I made I had reasonable par putts that just missed.  Had another birdie putt do a 180 ring around and not drop.

It was misting and Steady drizzle most of the round.  I seem to play well in rain when the greens are receptive.  My click gear push cart has an umbrella holder so you can walk under cover.  Best golf push cart on the market by a mile.

Really hitting the ball well right now.  Hope I can keep it going.
