Coach are you playing with the driving range balls again??

DJ has it so close on his practice putts that he can be deemed to have caused it to move unless something else like wind could be to blame. With greens that fast and sloped it doesn't take much pressure on the turf to make the ball move.

Unless I'm playing in a Tourny I don't bother to mark my ball. I play Bridgestone B330-RX both white and yellow. Yesterday there was all these little white weeds blooming white flowers in the rough so I went yellow. If its dandelion season or in the fall I play white. I actually prefer the yellow as I can follow it better in the air.

he never addressed the ball coach, that's the rule. he was also asked if he moved it, that's also in the rule, which he replied no. fast poa greens is more likely the culprit in this one |

Pretty fair round for a damn cripple today . Shot a 37 for 9 holes , 1 bird , 5 pars all in a row on the last 6 holes .
I started slow. I hurt myself again trying to do my regular dtive routine because the GROIN ache is still pretty nasty from hip replacement surgery . It leaves me unable to make a good turn on the drive .. So i needed to adjust to ease the aching, after first 3 holes ii decided to tuck my back foot in a half length and THAT little adjustment really helped ...still not the distance i usually get in the past but at least about 215 -225 so betterand moreimportantly no pain . Fortunately the shortgame and approaches inside 175 are NO problem . I' m really happy with the approaches this season whereas putting has always been pretty good . Sitting here now icing the hell outta the damn groin , BUT happy to be playing.I actually altho i usually played 18 all the time ,i don't mind playing just 9 till i can totally get back from the injury.

Assuming it's your L grion and hip limiting your turn as its pulling on that
Maybe just shorten up the backswing and aim on making good contact instead. Maybe look at a Sr flex shaft for your driver and higher loft which they say helps carry. Maybe think about moving up a tee as well.

with greens that ridiculously fast a blade or two of grass wilting in the sun can cause the ball to move. I
don't like to watch them suffer on greens that fast. if he had lost due to that bullshit and we got cheated out of seeing that white dress in action I would have been pissed |

I would think you would want to do the opposite with your back foot. move it back from parallel slightly and point the toe behind you. this will make it easier to twist the hips in the back swing, then let them fire through. |
Sig that is what i did , my description may have been a little warped

Coach its the RIGHT groin area, actually the new hip also on the Right is fine no ache just some stiffening in the right thigh , but man the right groin is a beotch !! Actually reefed it pretty good this am on holes 1-3 , after that it was under control ,your idea about shortening the backswing may be a good idea . Ill try it next time out
Thanks !! Keep it on the short grass partner !!

On the right side I would think you would feel it on the outside of your hip not the inside. Things must be pretty weak post op.
Sig mentions twisting your hips which is a sure way to slice the crap out of it. I think more about sliding my hip back to load the right side then sliding the hip straight back thru to the target and not rotating the hip until after contact on the follow thru.

that's funny, for 2 years my tee ball has been automatic. in the last five rounds I am slicing the crap out of it. I though it was a block or outside in. I will try closing my stance. warp daddy you probably need a stretching routine to help return range of motion. massaging the area always helps. maybe the old lady will pitch in |
The groin problem was exacerbated by way too aggressive stretching on my part , too many routines and too many reps and too many cycles per day . I simply OVERDID PT so the advice was to back offa nd do one or two routines daily but walk .
I have been a gym rat working out for yrs 3-4 times a week , walking distance routines for decades , biking , hiking , running , plus yrs of competitive sports beyond college so i am a Classic OVERUSE case .. As an athlete in college i often played hurt So now the advice is LISTEN to YOUR BODY , the No Pain , No Gain routine is BS according to my team of health advisors

i get it. sitting on the sidelines is difficult for some of us. I have lower back issues and have resolved myself to the fact that I will be doing lower back stretches and strengthen for the rest of my life. hang in there. keep playing, at a minimum your short game will get sharper. |
Hey does everyone keep a ghin? I see some pretty impressive shooters and just wondering.
I am a 12.1 trending toward an 11. |
When I did it was a 9.8
now should be an 18 |
How do you bet without a GHIN? I wont make bets with someone unless they have a GHIN...well mostly I will take one of those cracker jack handicaps that people can get off of apps if I know them.
|
i am a 10.7 but the course I play is short with big greens. my ghin does not travel well to other courses. not sure where my driver has gone but short game is saving me. heading to the pro on Friday for a lesson. I will gamble against almost anyone, golf is boring without some action. |

We never played a match with handicap, fuck that shit!! Too many cheaters out there for my liking. All our matches were scratch. We always did our best to make the teams as fair as they could be, usually it was one Pro w/ one Am and we did team skins. Then as time went on more people got involved so we may have 6 foursomes out there all playing their own matches with one big 20/man skin game among everyone. It was a friggin blast while it lasted. Most of the matches were a $2 Nassau, 2 down auto's, and press when your pissed. Those were some of the most fun times I've ever had playing golf. It's a different animal when your putt actually means the difference between taking cash out of your pocket vs. putting some in it.
To answer your question I'd just find 4 guys of the same ability and play a match, I sure as hell wouldn't bring handicap into it. I won't even play in a handicap tourney....to me they suck and the advantage goes right to the cheating sandbagger. |
