Last, I do think the idea to limit those under 18 makes sense.  There was a bunch of kidding going on in that college thread, and it flipped Sno out.  He's just not ready for it. It flipped some others out too, not much I can do about that.
What?!  So you're saying that I'm the one in the wrong here.  I was told to do drugs, engage in threesomes left and right, and was told that I was not ready for college, even though I got in and committed already.  I don't see how I'm in the wrong for that when all I posted was how I was happy about where I chose to go to college and the skiing that I would be able to do there.  Telling someone to do drugs is just plain wrong, and it was not being said as a joke there.  Talk about porn and threesomes just doesn't belong on a ski forum, plain and simple.  Age has absolutely nothing to do with that.  I hope Nabble charges you a lot of money to create an age limit.

Dude.  No one said you were wrong about anything. Just that you tend to flip out when faced with what I'll loosely term adult humor.

I fail to see the problem here. You are getting exclusive first tracks at NYSkiBlog-arama, boldly going where no minor has gone before. And the odds or another kid joining are probably one in a million.

It's bad karma to wish expense on admin.  Plus I just got whacked at the outdoor patio furniture store. Grow a soul man.

And you're complaining!?!  Some people have to ACTUALLY go to college for a year to learn all that.

Sno and probably some others are incredibly unfamiliar and ignorant about the ski bum/ ski town culture. Sex drugs and rock and roll are deeply rooted in this culture and they all meld together like peanut butter and chocolate.

You really think I'm going to listen to what a bunch of blowhards on the internet say for what I should do about college.  I committed because I know I'm ready and my parents know I'm ready.  My decision has been made and I'm not changing it based on what someone told me on the internet.

Nabble charges extra to have a forum with an "adult content ", which is what Harvey seems to want.  At least it did when I looked at their website.  Make it a true " adult forum" and you'll be seeing much worse stuff than was already up here.

Sno - your in the right place. They are right in saying the ski bum culture is a lot about drugs & sex, but that does not need to be the life you lead nor does it sound like the path you are headed down. The path you are headed down is one where you can make a difference to humanity and the world. Personally I would not waist an engineering degree on the ski industry. Invent a better way to harness renewable energies, invent a system to better deliver cancer treatments to patients, treat water for third world countries, or numerous other things. Be an inventor, publish your work and build on the foundation of human knowledge. These are the truly important things in life. The rest of it is just a load of self gratuitous crap. Oh, and just because people riding you here can't get their jollies from creating things to better humanity and feel their self worth is tied up in hucking that next cliff - that's their loss, your gain. I want to see your name on a few patents in the PTO in 5 or 10 years.

I fully agree with most of this and I never suggested he does otherwise. But......balance that stuff, there is nothing wrong with having a whole lot of fun with a little of the self gratuitous "crap", it actually isn't crap and can be a shit ton of fun but without the other it basically is just that and life in a lot of ways becomes sort of pointless or shallow when the fun is our only focus. And this is coming from a self proclaimed middle aged fun hog. Now.....are we posting this for Sno or are these posts aimed at proving our points for each other P? Ego....it's a hell of a drug! :)

This is really the reason why an impressionable minor might not fit in an adult group.  Forums and other social media have a purpose, but guiding young people in making good choices is probably out of scope. For a lot of us, or for me a least, this place is an escape. It's not about facing reality head on. I get plenty of that elsewhere.

I'm sure people here are contributing positively to society. There are a lot of ways to do that.

Treat others and the world the way you'd like to be treated and your time on earth won't be "waisted."

Harv - you do what you like with this, it's yours.
But for once I think Sno nailed it. If you want to make this an adults only site, go ahead. You can start taking ad dollars from FreePorn.com, probably make a lot more than all the other ads you have combined. Oh - and I hate the fact that the last thing I looked at at Amazon.com keeps popping up, I bought the GD thing at Home Depot already.
