We could probably make a thread about anyone or anything"s screw-ups. Some would be longer than others. Maybe we should create a sub-forum called "resort screw-ups, and have one for each NY ski area, and see which one is longest at the end of the season.

Anyway, Gore still remains probably my favorite mountain in NY. Millington is cool and everything but that's Vermont. Gore never ceases to entertain me. When they get snow, you can ski all day and never ski the same run twice. Glades compare to nothing I've seen at any other resort I've been to. Ok, so theres some brush, or a tree down in the glades? Why don't you lazy pencil pushers take your skis off and drag that shit out of the way and improve the experience for everyone? Or just do what I do, and say fuck it, and huck it!

You shouldn't be in the woods period, if you're not comfortable lifting your skis off the ground for a second to avoid obstacles.

Sure, they have bad days, maybe they don't make enough snow. Most of the days I've been there (20+) they have had all the mountain areas open. Even when I went there on closing day in 16 (very bad winter) I had a ton of fun. I think BC I don't ski there super frequently, just being there is still sort of special to me, but I do visit a few times a year, and know the mountain well.

Whiteface on the other hand, they may have screwed some things up, like only opening Lookout for a few days out of the season, and some of their "No fun" policy stuff. I've only been to WF about a half dozen times, but not once have I been there and Lookout was open. Kinda strange.  But WF is faced with their own set of challenges which are semi-understandable, and I don't ski there very often, so I kinda don't care.

Very nice response.

Really though, what would this place look like if every hill had a thread bitching about the shit they screwed up?

And for Christ sake, if you don't like something, be a leader, not a damn curmudgeon.  There's plenty of inspiration out there.  Or take up a new hobby.  I could definitely see Z and Shaman doing some crochet together

This guy is starting to read like a ORDA lackey
I’ve heard from Sno that some Orda marketing person had posted back to some comments on his blog
Had this guy ever posted anything meaningful except to contradict constructive criticisms of Orda

Btw I would not be surprised if Harvs blog here gets readership from management and who knows maybe they fix some of the stuff we point out.  The WF local crew on here know this mt really well and I’m sure same goes for the gore peeps

Earlier this yr I made a comment about needing brook side as an alt green blue route instead of blowing a terrain park and the next week it was groomed out and didn’t get made into a park until boreen opened several weeks later
Maybe a coincidence.  Still it was a darn good idea.

I was kinda being facetious about the sub-forum thing. Basically what I'm saying is I think the grass is always greener somewhere else. But, I'm a firm believer that if you take the time to water and fertilize your own grass everything will be OK.

I used to ski at Plattekill 30+ days a season. After a few years of that I began to see the shortcomings the mountain and its management had. At times I swore I'd never lay skis on that mountain again. I ended up getting a Peak Pass and an ORDA Frequent Skier card , and now ski Plattekill less frequently but thoroughly enjoy every day I do ski there.

Holy crap - I gotta quote this!

Dude - all you do is bitch about, well, pretty much everything.  Do you even ever read any of the rest of this forum?  Or is all about you?  And what affects your tiny little slice of the world?

I'm sure Harv created this blog, and this forum so tits like you could complain about mundane stuff that affects your sheltered little world so that it had no effect but to create negativity regarding said facilities or organization.

Yeah - so was I.  I'm just saying, what does negativity regarding these areas create?

And I'm with you.  Take care of your community and it will take care of you.  I clear my own trails and glades.  Ski where I put in my work.  Also the organizations I take part in didn't just come from nowhere.  People had to put in time and effort to fight government restrictions.  It happens all the time.

There are three types of people in this world.  Those that take action when they care about something.  Those that throw their hands in the air and say, oh well, what can I do?  And those who shake their fist and throw stones from behind their glass windows.  Guess who contributes to this "constructive" thread?

Here you go putting words in Harvey's mouth. For a man that has done so little you seem to be the authority on everything. Try throttling it down. You don't have to dominate every thread. May be stick to bikes you are good at that.

So you think he created this place so Z could complain?  I know who all you guys are, so don't play coy.  And I know who's friends with who.  Harv and Shaman are buds.  He's not gonna say anything to him even if his posts are completely anti-stoke.

I'm not putting words in anyone's mouth.

He once told me that stoke goes above all here.  Perhaps those so expert in skiing should be so wise to heed that.

The reality is, if we want ski resorts in the park it should be handled like the national park service does it, lease the land to private companies and let them run it. The state will make money and the product will be better.

I know, this little detail doesn’t really matter getting the point across but they are two very different agencies.

Hey cunning, why do you care if these guys have a bitch thread? You don’t have to click on it.

Go read back - I explained it 100x already.

You'll also notice that those who complain only try to turn it back on me and focus the negativity back at me rather than step up and do something real.  Look up Ron Kon and Adirondack Powder Skiing Association.  Perfect example of how to deal with government agencies to advocate for what you want.

It's much easier to call me an ORDA troll, drool at your computer and complain than actually do something that will make a positive change.

Also, how bright are they to assume that?  Would an ORDA troll tell you to create a lobbying organization to fix what you don't like about ORDA?  My two year olds whine less and have better reasoning.

Also dude, go back and read.  I made a slight criticism of their criticisms and dude calls me a cunt and goes off.  Who's the sensitive fuckin' snowflake here?

Admittedly dude, your username is a punchline to a joke about said ladyparts.

Anyhoo, that’s my contribution to the bitch thread. I will tell you I haven’t been around much over the last 11 years, but I miss Gore.....not necessarily orda.

Haha... you think I don't know what my username is?  Most people say CS or Cunning.  Obviously going to Cunt is not a huge stretch, but don't think it's not obvious he was going for a blow.  I mean after that came the obligatory "flatlander" and then ORDA troll.  I think it's pretty obvious to any halfway intelligent adult what his motivations were.  As were mine with my initial comment...  I don't claim to be a saint.

Sorry I've been AWOL a bit lately. It's hardest to keep up with in winter when there is skiing to be done.

While this thread has a bit of antagonistic title, it's serving a purpose. While the idea of a "home mountain" may be in jeopardy, the tradition of bitching about yours is a time honored forum tradition.

Regarding the question of "why" I spancer this site... it's because, most of the time, the fun justifies the work.  The unpleasant part is when I have to write a check to keep it going, or when I'm forced to moderate.

Totally different.

I believe Canada has resorts in some of their national parks, but I don't think there are any in the US.  I though Jackson Hole might have been, but it's not.

Parks have more protections than most National Forest land unless its designated Wilderness.  Then it's kind of like the Adirondack WIlderness areas as those were modeled on the National system.

Apparently I'm wrong.  Tradition always trumps reform.  The easy way always trumps the right way.  And of course, the irony is that is what the complainers are complaining about.

These sort of illogical leaps (of course I know you know why you named yourself!) and your incessant “they’re ganging up on me when I troll them!” complaints tend to come in to threads pretty thick every once in a while.

Illogical leap?  It's called sarcasm smarty pants.  And actually I meant you think I don't see the spoonerism?  I picked this name at random because I thought it was clever and like stunning cunts.

Is it trolling?  Are they so sensitive that they can't take a little jab about their incessant complaining?  Apparently you need to go read - my suggestion all along was something positive.  Granted I called them whiny babies, but maybe they are.  Please look through all my threads and find where I'm complaining about anything.  I'm not complaining here - you mistake my tactics.  It's redirection to something that might actually work.  I've done the same thing with you and MC - and frankly, you told me straight up you just want to have pointless political debates and don't actually care about actually doing anything positive.  And you also said you'd leave once politicrap is gone.  Not sure you are one to throw stones my friend... just sayin...

And where did I say anyone was ganging up on me?  Isn't it clear TJ and Camp came to kick me in the ballz because they dislike me due to past squabbles and my general feud with their lawyer buddy.

Changed my mind this dude is the probably the lastest incarnation of glade runner or powass
His insistence to take over a thread is the tell

Regardless he says he doesn’t ski any of the Orda areas so  needs to shut his trap

I hold by the statement that we are doing this in the slim chance we can make our voices count in in a positive way.  Ride the Gondi with locals week in and out, sit in the seasonal locker rooms or have coffee at mid and literally ever single local will say Orda is fundamentally broken and management is unwilling or unable to fix it.  Something needs to change.
