Im sure I dont need to say this but SnoStillWetsHisBed is wrong again. WF will be top2bottom this weekend on a very deep spring base.  Once the temps go up the corn 🌽 🌽 will pop!

And conditions this weekend were only awful if you were a beginner to struggling intermediate.  Some amazingly great carving zones all over the mtn. Sure there were slick rick sideslip zones but experienced WF expert class skiers knew how to get to the goods.  Including the boot deep stash on Niagara!
I agree that some nice warm temps and things will be fun this next weekend but Scotty lets be real please that was not good skiing this weekend.  It was super windy this past week with a 115mph gust recorded at the castle so the snow got blasted up high.

I did 4 laps on the Gondi and went home on Saturday.  After the first down Mt run to drapers (which did corn up at the bottom) I stuck to lower angle stuff as those frozen patches were pretty impossible to get good edge hold on.  Sunday I skipped altogether when the sun didn't come out and with cold temps it was good for race training for my son but not for skiing.  Good day to watch the Masters.

Everybody I skied with had a very good time saturday and sunday. Mtn Run, Parkway, Thurway, Drappers were way more than edge-able.

PS: its never a good time to watch golf on tv....

Sunday was MUCH better than Saturday. Not too much terrain open, but everything skied really well up until I left at about 12:15.

Zero out of ten day skiing is better than watching golf on TV

Skiing difficult conditions is good training especially if you have lines in wild places that you still want to ski!

Regardless it sure wasnt awful conditions if you are an Adirondack skier!

JTG4eva!
Have fun!  I’m seeing significant white stuff in the forecast tomorrow evening into Sunday.  Pond Skimming moved to 4/21, so there will be at least one more weekend!

Oh yeah it was.  No issues at top either.  Parsons was open but signs said thin cover and didn’t look good from bottom well top of little WF.  High peaks sticking out above valley fog.  Really spectacular. Don’t get this in Vermont.   Oh back to conditions skyward a bit sticky first run but then as it got chewed up a bit softened and excellent.   Mt run also great as was wilderness.   Didn’t quite miss Mac nor Hoyt’s as others so good.  Essex opened late morning but didn’t take it.   Drapers looked good.    Lower valley fine too. Boreen not so much.

Hopefully they'll find some way to groom Skyward so that it can be skied this weekend.

It’s fine now doesn’t need grooming for Saturday. The blue ice is on parons. Zero on sky.

It's going to harden up overnight so they'll need to groom it or it's back to being closed.  If Follies is alright they could probably get a groomer up that.

If the summit stays open, the wind isn't too crazy, and the snow totals turn out to be true, Sunday could be a great day.  Currently trying to find out if the Little Whiteface lift will run so I would have an option to ski decent terrain if the summit didn't open.

Checking out the webcam this morning at Whiteface and it looks like the storm has started.  Latest forecast for Whiteface says 15" for today

Epic day in the making for those of you up there?

I think that is open snow forecast which always over predicts.

Lull in the action presently.  Temps dropped to below freezing.

Not saying it doesnt have potential for signifcant snow today through Monday but NWS decreased there totals since yesterday to 2-4.  Local news calling for 3-6.

If it happens, I will be on point with dawn patrol.

Is anyone there today?  Looking at the webcam it looks pretty empty.  The Little Whiteface lift isn't open today so I'm really hoping they either run it tomorrow or it's similarly empty.

When I posted earlier, the view on the webcam was almost a whiteout.  Should have snapped a photo, it looked great.  Still, the forecast is still on for 3" today and 11" overnight from Wunderground: https://www.wunderground.com/weather/us/ny/forestdale/KNYFORES12?cm_ven=localwx_today
