Shit Z, ya think it might be slushy?

I know it will be, like, May 5 and all....but I really hadn’t considered that it might be slushy!

In this case it isn’t quality or quantity of turns that is really important, it’s more about experience.  Nobody has ever skied lift served at WF on May 5, ever.  Yeah, the turns might be mushy shit and there may be some walking in mud.  However, it will be done with like minded revelers as a part of history.  I’ll take the slush and mud along with the sun, and the sweat, and the sunburn, the the beers on the deck, and the general scene.

If I can swing it.  My wife might have just given me a pass after I liked the WF FB post yesterday....

I may be able to swing it too. Anyone else?

Only Excelsior, Bypass, Connector, Victoria, Summit Express, Upper Valley, Lower Valley, Fox, Wolf, and Roundabout anticipated to be open.  Not going to be many takers is my guess.

I'm only going to say I skied Whiteface in May and to take a break from finals stress.  Otherwise, skiing a couple flat blue trails in slush doesn't really excite me.  Jay Peak would be a better option with Jet and Bonaventure open with steep trails and even some glades, but I'm not feeling the drive.

I’m considering it...
Skiing is not a sport, it is a way of life.

I hate to admit it but I'm with Sno on this one (at least the not being inspired by blue squares part). I'd love to go up but our oldest has a lax tournament Saturday. If the summit was open I would ditch the tourney and take the kids but that trail mix is not compelling enough to do so for me. I think it is awesome they are open and if I didn't have anything else going on I would absolutely be there.

Hope everyone has a blast and a SAFE time out there Saturday. Hoping to get one last day at Kton at some point.

Agreed, the terrain available won’t inspire people to drop everything and be there at all costs.  While I’m not all that jazzed for slushy blue trails either......the combo of terrain, great weather, and tasty beers with a few NYSB cohorts is a pretty strong attraction.  And I’ll make a trip up to the summit, see if it’s worth any repeats!

You never know they could open some black terrain.

I'm thinking that on May 5th "open" is merely a suggestion

Working with clients is all about managing expectations. Promising terrain when it is hot and windy and raining might not be a wise move. The intent is there.

I'm thinking about showing up for one run to be a part of history, as I'm heading to LP tonite for other business.
Free lift ticket (voucher) available to anyone who needs it. Pickup in LP late tonite or early tomorrow morning. PM me if interested.

If I were in the area I'd do the same thing ---- this isn't about skiing

Back when my little hill had soul our crew would always, always, always ski the last day no matter what. There were plenty of times it was one and done but we were there to say we did it.

The thing which would make the run even more memorable is I skied WF opening day this season.
If I were by myself, it would be a different scenario..but...
fill in the blank, lol

Pish!  It’s gonna be nicer tomorrow than when I met your lovely wife two weeks ago!  Tell her I’m buying a round and she needs to be there!!

Maybe, maybe...if the planets align, the cable feed is down, it's a possibility. She's a trooper, but this would be one hard sell. The round may be the persuading factor, so thanks for the offer. She enjoyed the two magaritas at the Cloudspin a few weeks back... and after all, it's Cinco de Mayo tomorrow!

Don't bother coming.  It's drizzling and the power is out.  Top of Little Whiteface is encased in fog.  Only facelift can run until they get it back and there's no time estimate so I doubt LWF opens all day.  Go somewhere else if you can.

It's going to be a blue bird fully sunny day in about 2 hours with temps touching near 60. If we ever want them to attempt something like this ever again we had better show up.

The weather cant be controlled and they cant control a power outage, but if they're still trying to run a lift lets support them.
