This comes over a holiday weekend..IMO brutal cold is as much a revenue killer as rain..

True.  Unfortunate for revenue on the hill, but people will come.  If they don't spend money on lift tickets at least it will be busier in town, at least for the more resort destinations like Whiteface/Placid.

Sure, it is the outlier and did just diverge from the other models, but rooting for the ECMWF later this week, as that's the only model that wants to deepen the low forming off the Carolina coast Friday and keep it inside the benchmark, which would bring snow to the north country Friday night and Sat......

I have no scientific basis for this but I'm thinking thinking those temps is over (under) expressed.

Yesterday the NWS forecast for Thurs showed a high at WF of 15 and rain showers.  Sometimes you get some weird chit.

EDIT: OK after reading the NWS ALB forecast discussion, maybe I recant. They used the phrase "life threatening."  

NWS forecast for the area isn't as brutal, with Sat temps single digits below 0, and Sun single digits above.  That reporting is for the airport in Saranac Lake (1,600 ft).  Would expect it to be colder on the hill as you gain elevation.  

If the latest ECMWF model is right on the low Friday night it wouldn't allow as much arctic air to funnel into the region.

It sucks that we see a 12hr old ECMWF...Ya gotta pay to see a the current run

Oh, well!  Guess the ECMWF is back in ranks with the others?

GFS 5 Day Snowfall looks good, I'll take the short term and to hell with your long range.  Lalalalala...I can't hear you.

This map is consistent with M-F snowfall from now through Friday, with 12-16 at Whiteface.

These don't look ominous, showing cold temps and significant QPF through the end of the month...

Been watching that map for several days. It's usually overblown, with some basis in reality. I don't understand WTF is up with it right now.

Harvey, what happened to that map calling for 80cm of snow?

All kidding aside, there really isn't anything of significance in the medium range..

WF webcam doing its best to support the forecasts.  Was snowing on the hill at 8:30, and it's currently snowing on the hill.
