Again anything to drag this out until Nov is the leftist playbook of the moment. Spout all the unfounded doom and gloom and hope people crawl into a ball and sit at home as the worse the economic damage the better Does George Soros pay you to post this crap on blogs and forums?

Study out of China (not peer reviewed):
Almost all transfers of the disease occurred indoors (houses, businesses, public transportation). One one case was found to be transferred in an outdoor environment: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.04.04.20053058v1 Matches with anecdotal evidence from cruise ships, subways, etc. and also goes towards explaining why it seems to spread faster in dense areas where people spend their time indoors. Lots of cause for hope, especially for those of us who enjoy outdoor activities like biking, hiking, golf, and skiing (next year). |

Makes me wonder...what was the point of all of this? #Flatten the curve was really #Flatten the economy. Fortunately, the USA will rebuild in short order. The States that want to stay closed forever...go ahead. Just don't go begging for money from Uncle Sam. This was a self inflicted wound and there will be a price to pay. |

Look I feel we need a coronavirus thread. Please try to play nice. This is interesting to me:

Since you've opened it back up, I have to say, this has been bothering me all day ...
I'd respond simply by saying, maybe this is the "point" of "all this" ... https://www.businessinsider.com/healthcare-workers-who-died-with-the-coronavirus-2020-4 By the way ... that article is 10 days old at this point, and the numbers have increased. Maybe I'm being too sensitive, but as someone who has 5 nurses and a doctor in my family, who are "on the front lines", a family member who contracted the virus and was VERY fortunate to have survived, statements like the above are pretty insulting. I genuinely hope that YOU don't have to rely on these incredibly SELFLESS people who are doing everything they can, putting their own lives and their family's lives at risk, to help others. I did the best I could, but if I'm not being "nice", go ahead and ban me.
It's easy to be against something ... It's hard to be for something!

Haha! That was probably the nicest, most respectful rebuke that any corner of the interweb has ever seen. Grab the pitchforks...ban that viscous monster!
Hope you and your front line family members stay safe!
We REALLY need a proper roll eyes emoji!!

This post was updated on .
I just saw a report on the testing of the crew of the USS Roosevelt, which is the aircraft carrier that got sidelined to Guam a week or two ago because of a covid outbreak on board. About 4100 tested negative. 840 tested positive and half of those showed no symptoms. I’m not sure what that means exactly, looking forward to some expert analysis. Seems like a good opportunity for detailed study.

Save it for another day, dude. Wife and daughter are also nurses. My wife is now unemployed thanks to NY being the most f'd-up State (not allowing elective surgery) in the country and my daughter is an ICU nurse in NJ. They both call B.S. to this thing. How would you like to be a nurse that is forced to do a procedure on some fat f*ck (350 lb) CV patient that has other complications??? Family says "do everything"...i.e. "we don't give a crap about the medical staff...". As for ME...57 y.o. very fit guy...I'll take my chances. You can cower under your kitchen table as long as you like. |

Do you... think that other countries are deliberately trying to destroy their economies, too? Honestly, do you just think we should "go back to normal" immediately and whoever dies dies? |

I looked back a bit into that ship a while ago. They had "citizens" come aboard in San Diego hosting the folks who were playing in the bowl game.
https://timesofsandiego.com/sports/2015/12/27/usc-trojans-arrive-in-san-diego-for-28th-holiday-bowl-at-qualcomm/ Could be asymptomatical spread. It was parked there in San Diego late December. Safer than a cruise ship. |
The biggest takeaway for me, from the USS Theodore Roosevelt: 60% of the sailors who tested positive when this article was written were asymptomatic. I.e. administering a test only to people who are showing symptoms is ludicrous.
https://gcaptain.com/aircraft-carrier-outbreak-could-hold-clue-to-coronavirus-spread/ One can be infected and spread the disease without realizing it. A doctor my child used to go to died from covid19 last week.

It's politics that gets you banned, mostly.
Z's post is banable. Onscott's is harsh IMO but not. Onscott, sorry your wife is on unemployment man. Maybe the elective surgery thing isn't right for every hospital, but it's a earnest attempt to solve the problem. If it is a mistake, I personally don't put it in the top ten that we've made fighting this thing. That's just me. Face, thanks for posting, I wish the best to your family and appreciate their dedication. You don't see too many healthworkers calling BS on stay at home guidelines. It might be because they face reality every day. I could see exhausted HC pros in Georgia or some place opening up, saying, hey I quit. Or maybe please fire me, I could dig sleeping in, watching some TV and collecting some of that +600 unemployment. One thing I find amazing. You've got 8 billion people in the world and some huge number of them are complying with healthcare recommendations. That's some big picture thinking. This problem requires us to think about the collective good. A lot are doing it.

If we were to put economy before people’s lives where would we be morally as a society?
I can’t get on board and with that. That being said we are financially safe right now. I’m doing what I love everyday and as it turns out, I’ve always been big on social distancing. Maybe not so much after skiing I guess. I do miss the Agassiz social lounge. I totally get the protesters frustrations but I don’t think they are asking the right questions or protesting what they should be. |
Same here. I see them on the news and my knee jerk is yes!! I want to go back to work, fuck this let's go. We still only have 32 cases in our county what are we waiting for. Then I think well it's not about me or just the county I live in. After all NYC pays for our roads n shit 😏 |
