Re: Gore Conditions

green light
Today was the day to be at Gore. Powerful sunshine, temps in the mid to upper 40s that softened up the surface from the base to upper mountain as the day progressed. We moved in that direction just following the sun as it did it’s magic.  Started out on Twister then worked our way to Burnt Ridge via Tahawus/Pipeline. Sagamore was so nice I hated to leave after just 1 run. Took Echo over to the gondola then hit Uncas, Topridge and Pine Knot to Straight Brook chair. Rumor had corn on top with a pretty firm base just under it, very edge able. Lies was perfect. Then back down and did a couple front side cruisers. Little Dipper!!! Still great coverage all over. Didn’t seem to be much activity in the trees. Upper lot full and parking in the second lot. Beer sitting on the tailgate in the sun topped it off!
its a beautiful thing

Just arrived. Mixed snow and rain down at the river ~1000 feet. Snowing on Garnet Hill at 1900.

So far my luck is good, started a fire with 6 pieces of kindling and half a New York Times.

Hell no! That's a good fire start. Our stove at camp can be a real bitch to get going.

It was some skill but a lot of luck.

I could have split more of course, but I was in a gambling mood.

Up top was much easier than down low...although Sagamore first thing was sick. Twin Fawns to end my day was a highlight. Fat Guy Pow!

This post was updated on .
Mountain skied really well today.  I spent most of my day on Burnt Ridge. Probably did 5 laps on Barkeater. Got a chance to ski with Suds and Sig.

Good times.

Harvey I think we just missed you leaving the Yurt.  Karen and I were having lunch on the bench by the fireplace.

Sagamore was skiing really great and I had two of my best Monoski runs of the year, high speed  power cruising, even with my bum hip.  The Mono is a really amazing ride when the snow is perfect, which it was today.
