Re: Gore Conditions

sudsnbumps
So was at dinner last night when the owner came up to me and said "Gore opening Saturday?"  I said I don't know what do you know .  He said he heard from a bartender that he knows that Tannery was scrambling to get product in by Friday to open on Saturday...just sayin that's what I heard.  My skis are still shrink wrapped and I don't have a boot bag but if I can ski Gore Saturday morning, I will be there...otherwise it looks like Kmart for Sunday  6-9 minimum Thursday into Friday...Gore has to open

I also can't imagine they haven't been able to cover Showcase. In 2010 Mike told me the could put 2 feet on Showcase in 48 hours.

I understand managing expectations, but I think they should say they will open Saturday, and shoot for Friday.

Are they going to be open?? I have no intel but I am wondering, is their snow making system up and running or are they still waiting for the pump house to get operational. When I drove by the other day I say just three fan guns running and no snow making cloud.
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.

Gore is opening.

Terrain is what you've heard: Showcase, Arena, 2b, Bear Cub, Ski Bowl.

Very cool. Will this make the earliest opening date in history?

Since I don't have a pass at Gore this year, I'm out for the weekend (they'd probably frown on me skinning the bowl because it appears that they're opening the XC loops, too).

I wonder if there's enough snow for Raymond Brook, though. I feel like I've skied it with less before. Hmmmm.... 🤔

Plenty of snow, just watch out for the water spots which may now be hidden with the fresh snow
Gotta go to know

Are Chats and Hawkeye actually going to be open or is this what they are "hoping" for?  They aren't blowing snow on it, but I guess there is enough natural?

I would think there isn't enough natural quite yet or base without making snow on them for both but who knows. To open the summit they would also have to open Uncas and Tannery. Which they are showing as open also.

My gut says just Showcase and Ruby run from the Gondola for tomorrow.

I think really open. Straightbrook is posted open as well so all signs point to open.

Oh man.. I have plans for the weekend but its tempting to ditch and head up!!  If the snow holds though I'll probably go weekend after Tgiving which will be my earliest trip ever.

Well it's confirmed. Straightbrook is supposed to open on natural. They did note any natural terrain will open and close without notice throughout the day though.

I am tempted to head up tomorrow given what is supposed to open, but at the same time, it could be just Showcase. I also am leery that if the natural trails even open they won't last very long before that 18 inches for the season gets scraped down to snirt and rocks. 18 inches on bare ground isn't much of a base. As much as I like to ski, 5 hours and 30 minutes of driving round trip is a bit much to ski just Showcase...but I still am tempted. Will make the call this evening before bed I guess.

In either case, I will be up there next weekend on Black Friday or Saturday to make turns if I can't swing them this weekend.
