Horrible timing...big weekend. Hopefully they can get it squared away. GPP can't catch a break...oh well. They'll fix it and hopefully no more infrastructure issues this year...

I went today from 10 til about 12:30. Conditions were nice and it was puking snow for most of the morning...Iliad was groomed with some fresh on top and was the run of the day. Fields and Odyssey weren't groomed and a little firmer but got better as the day went on. Huge snowmaking whales on Fields from the past couple of days.

                                                               Pic from about noon today:

They had most of the debris removed today. The pumps and mechanicals were askew. I'm sure the insurance company will be thrilled to replace a second pump house. I saw Wes, but certainly didn't want to hold him up to chat.

Not certain what this means for the future of snowmaking this season, unless they hop on top of it soon to bring in some new equipment and get a structure up.

Greek Peak was riding well all around today. I got there around 9:15 and was surprised by the amount of people already there. With that being said, the lift attendants were doing a good job of hurrying people through the lines and the wait time wasn't bad at all. Had few runs down Alcmene, Iliad, Fields and Mars Hill and had no complaints about any of them. Left around 11:30 after what I'd call a really good day of snowboarding. Give us some real snow and I'd change that to great.

That was strange the glade off lift 2 was open.  We rode it but, it wasn't in very good shape.  It was manageable, then we did the glade on lift 5 which was closed and in much better shape.  I scraped some but, no real damage a stone across my edges won't fix.  We hung out on life 5 most of the time because it was the first time it was open when we've been there.  Got out around noon with no long lift lines even though it was pretty busy.  Must have helped to get all the lifts open and spread people out.

Skied until noon today, but didn't see any activity at the pump house. Equipment has been ordered. Not certain what the timetable is, but hopefully soon, as Upper Mars is in desperate need of some snow. Not sure why they didn't install water and air lines on it this summer while they were working on that side of the mountain.

Skiing was excellent. Tore up and down Odyssey most of the day and kept hoping that chair 1 would open to save my tired legs from having to skate uphill to get to the top of Odyssey (not crazy about the cutoff, as you miss the top). Also, chair 1a kept slowing down and stopping most of the weekend. No need for a speed variance, as it never runs at a constant speed for more than a short bit of time.

Not certain what the plan is with the Fields, as it wasn't groomed yesterday, and was only groomed down the center today.

Chair 2 was down for a while today. Don't know why. Maybe after nearly sixty years, it needed a rest.

Finally, somebody skied through the window of the A-frame a few days ago. Hopefully no injuries, but rather comical.

"Snowmaking returned last night. The pump house that was affected by the fire: a temporary workaround will be in place today and we will begin to blow snow on Wednesday, hitting Hercules and the east side.  A permanent fix will be constructed once winter ends.  Overall not bad for 100% loss of East Mountain pump house. So they really only have 3 lifts open?

Is the website updated?

I will be up Friday and Saturday hadn't been up since Dec 26th.

Thanks

My guess is that chair 4 will be off-line for the next day or so because the electrical is going down during the re-construction. This is only pure speculation. They did build a barrier and access road, so it's likely something more than pure safety, as guest safety is rarely a concern.

We had a little fluff on top of some decent cord which made for some nice skiing yesterday.

I'm a little confused about the Fields. Like RJ mentioned, there is a swath groomed down the middle and both sides appear to be left un-groomed to bump up, which I find a little odd.

Guess I'll need to hit the next Summit to find out the logic behind that.

Plan is to re-open chair 4 and 5 areas either Thursday or Friday this week.
