White Ribbon of Death means only 1 trail, or even half of a trail being the only thing open. There are some that get all jazzed up for it and others who will pass on the opportunity of early turns.
Hell yes you should hit the bunny slope. Better get ready for when the deep stuff hits.
It’s when there’s just a single narrow strip of gunpow down the middle of the hill where a thousand young bucks with a need for speed are elbowing each other out of the way in a futile search for enough snow to link two turns together.
So not really in terms of mountain improvements... Where did they install new guns and pipe? Why is everything so vague with them?
Sounds like another year with improvements that won't make a noticeable difference with the skiing experience.
New pipes and fixed guns on the top headwall of the Iliad. The interesting thing is that they are on skiers right, which may be interesting if there is wind of any sorts. The guns should really be on the other side of the trail, but until they decide what they are going to do with the lift, they opted to install the guns and pipe on the other side.
In terms of the balance of their spending, it went into Hope Lake Lodge, courtesy of the timeshare owners capital improvement fund.
Huh??
They're planning on opening Friday. That's noticeable.
That is definitely pretty impressive. I hope they can pull it off for no other reason than the publicity it will garner.
Unfortunately it looks like the opening might be short-lived. They rush to open early (only to have to close when it warms up), but then never make a deep enough base to stay open past the first weekend in April.

I would agree that they never develop a sustainable base before moving the equipment to other slopes. They spend so much time dragging equipment around, which is not an efficient use of labor. They really should be putting all of their efforts into Alpha and the Iliad this time of the year. With Toby leaving and Sean at the helm, let's see if he has a different strategy this year.

Your optimism is refreshing...
Are you optimistic that the laws of thermodynamics are going to change?
