At least you take the left side of the course out of play! |
That's one of your many qualities Pro, always looking on the bright side
Don't forget I have that over the top pull hook off the tee at times --- You've seen my act be4 |

Makes sense. I started a waggle forward prior to taking the club back. It seems to clear my hips better so I can get through the ball without hamstringing myself. I practice with the sticks so my set up seems to be correct. At least I know I am parallel with the target and the ball is positioned properly for the club being used. I'm thinking I am going to practice starting my downswing with ??? as my first movement. I went to the pro up here and all he wanted to do was to show me how he can hit a draw or fade on command. I think I may not have explained to him what I was looking for and that was the problem. Whatever he is out. I'm going to give the pro over at the whiteface club a try. Pete something or other.
Campi you gave up Golf didn't you? |
For the most part. I've certainly given up playing in tourneys. I never, EVER missed a tourney, EVER. Played once last year and that's it.....kinda getting the itch to back into it. I've taken enough time off (basically 3 years) that there's interest now so time will tell. |
Pro, you should give TJ a holler when you guys are up at Thendara for your Pro-Am....maybe if I have a game by then I'll go with ya
Edit: or is that a stroke play event. I'm easily confused. |
Get a GHIN, I will be down in that neck of the woods this summer. At least down by Syracuse which cant be to far from you. I would love to come back to the ADK with some foot hills cash. I took golf back up last year after a few years off. It does not take to long to get back to where you were. I think you hit a plateau and that's as good as your going to get more or less. I'm an 11.

LOL --- deal
We'll play for sure and add em up when we're done --- We'll get a 4-some set up hopefully at Pro's course cause it's wicked nice there --- I'm sure #14 or Racer Ron will go ---- if Racer goes we can play a Nassau by splitting us hacks up ( 2down auto's, press when you're pissed) --- tons of fun playing with guys that TRULY know how to play the game |

TJ
Did you get a membership to the club this yr. I like pros suggestion to keep your hands in closer to the body. That works as a good swing thought for me.
if You French Fry when you should Pizza you are going to have a bad time

It sure is!! I remember playing in the Inter Club once at Walden....I was paired with Racer...I played the front 1 over, birdied 10 to get back to even. Feeling good about my play I preceded to use that over the top pull hook shot I have off the tee on 11, not just once but 4 times resulting in 4 tee balls OB....I took an 11 on #11....Racer looks at me and says (as only he can), "You just got TKO'd" Needless to say the wheels came off, but the beer was cold and the company was great |
Its good to be humbled on occasion keeps u real , and the thing is youll always hit a few shots that will whet ur appetite for more masochism next time out. BWa HAAAAA
Seriously this is the most challenging game i took on ...so damn many independent variables in the mechanics not to mention the game going on inside ur head ..."But damn i love it now

So true on many levels I'm fortunate that when I do play golf it's with guys like Pro and Racer Ron....one thing I find most interesting about this game is that my/your good shots are NO different than guys like Pro and Racers, they're good shots with good results. The biggest difference is the bad shots. Usually when they hit a bad shot it';s slightly off line, a little short, a little left etc etc.....when I hit a bad shot you need to get your compass out , or simply take a few steps and pick it up ....how we hacks limit our bad shots is the key to playing good golf. It's SO DAMN HARD to put 18 holes of golf together. Another MASSIVE difference is the bad hole. I gave an example of one of my bad holes which resulted in the wheels coming of and ruining my score, didn't ruin the fun factor, just my score. Here's an example of one of Pro's bad holes and how the results differ. Years ago I was playing in a Pro-Am with him at Seneca Falls CC....he got off to a good start. If my memory is correct he birdied the first then pared the second. The 3rd hole was a relativity short par 3 and Pro knocked his tee ball into a green side bunker then preceded to play ping pong back and forth with the bunker on the other side of the green resulting in a 7 on that par 3. He never lost his temper (you honestly can't tell if the guy is shooting 65 or 80 while he's on the course), he battled back for the rest of the round playing solid golf. He holed out on 18 for Eagle (fucker has a habit of doing that -- one time it cost me and my partner 80 bucks to witness ) which resulted in a round of even or 1 under for the day. That's the difference between a hack and a golfer.....they have the skills AND the mindset to overcome the dreaded bad hole. Man I have the itch this year |

Lower body starts the downswing from the ground up with your weight transitioning to your left foot (if you're right handed) and your body uncoils as your hips then shoulders rotate with your arms and hands following. It's impossible to think of these movements individually and make a good swing. My advice is to focus on very light grip pressure and feel like you are starting your down swing in slow motion. You should feel a slight pause at the top as you transition from back swing to downswing. This is critical for your downswing sequence timing and proper release. Most people release early (before impact) and lose all their power. |
So Ernie Els ends up 9 over and misses the cut by 3. He was 5 over on his first hole Thursday, and made a double on the first hole yesterday. 7 of his 9 over came on that hole! I would say he played pretty well overall!

Thanks for the kind words. I do remember that day. Unfortunately thing don't always work out that way. You just have to remember that EVERYTHING in golf is temporary....good and bad. You just hope for more good than bad..

You and Pro are right on target .
I started playing my best golf the last few seasons ,many reasons why . I started playing this game when i was 60 After a long time i finallu gigured some stuff out 1.relax laff at ur mistakes ( i have a mantra whenever i screw u p a shot , i. Simply LET IT GO ,do not dwell on it at all and say to myself "0k so now just hit a golf shot 😜" 2.draw that big stick back low and sloow ,hestitate at the top and let my arms FOLLOW my elbow down thru thr inside and dont "juice " the swing till damn near impact . It helps me to stay inbalance and not overswing and come inat the wrong angle 3 putting for me is just relaxing again and making sure i do not slow the stroke down before impact ,i had a tendency to do that early on 4 .leaving my ego at home by learning how to play the game from the HOLE back to the tee , i e when to layup rather than go all apeshit macho withthe silly stick I'm still a hack at 72 compared tp u guys . Finally got hc down to 10 last yr but then again i am using a modified senior tee approach ( playing thr par 3's from the back tees everything else from the old fart tees

Dude I'm a total hack. Guys like Pro and Racer are the golfers. The only "real" tourney (individual stroke play) I would ever play in is our club championships, I never broke 150 (that was always my goal) came close a couple of times but that's it. My best score in a "real" tourney was 74.......my point is it's really easy to go out by yourself and shoot a good score. Tee it up when something is on the line and everything changes. |

That's exactly where my game is gonna be this year |
Thanks for the kind words Pro and Campster , coming from u guys its much apprciated .
I try and will always enjoy this game regardless of the outcome. I'm hoping the damn hip replacement and groin issue dont affect my game too much , but hey at almost 73 i am just happy to still be on the RIGHT side of the grass Campster ur so right about tourney stroke play , it is more focused and not as relaxed . Most of my play is with friends and family who are all pretty "loose as a swoooose" attitudinally , all except my BIL who gets down on himself when hit hits a few errant shots , then th poor dude starts pressing and things go south
