Epic. All I can say for today. I will be back tomorrow for leftovers provided lifts spin with the temps/wind. Although today was an all you can eat pow buffet, I want seconds! Glad I was there early!

We arrived Ski Bowl at around 10:00, was a substantial dig out this morning.
Skied with my daughter, first run Moxham, then 46er, Hudson, Ski Bowl Glade, skied the entire Bowl. JJ's was nice, but watch your head at the downed tree. A lot of tree clutter in the woods and on Hudson. PeeTex correct, density to the powder. We cut a line in Ski Bowl Glade....a lot of work. Great day of skiing, its going to pack in well, should be some great skiing. Hudson Chair lifty told my son that they expect wind chills of -40 tomorrow. It's going to be cold. Milana on Moxham Milana in POW |
My apologies to anyone that followed the tracks to Ski Bowl Village...oops just following the POW
Today was F'ng Epic!

Ditto WF. There was a tree line I’ve skier there in the pat that had some serious blowdown issues today.
We REALLY need a proper roll eyes emoji!!

We had some issues with down trees in a secret glade today, had to bushwhack around it which took a lot of work. My buddy broke trail for part of the way and then I finished it up. The we got to the pitch and had a great line all the way out.

Fun couple of hours with my daughter lapping Hudson chair. Heard of the access road debacle, dug out my old Gotamas and had a blast on Oak Ridge, Moxam and the glades in between. Solid 18" here in Olmstedville.

Epic is the word of the day. I had the pleasure of waiting in the line of cars due to Jerrys on the access road. 40 minutes to get from Peaceful Valley rd to upper lot. I didn't snap a pic of the Jerry on skis down the rd, but I got one of this kid scraping the windshield out of the sunroof. We were stuck behind the plow brigade on the Northway. Still one of the best days in years. North quad liftline was primo around 11 or so. Twister glades, Burnt Ridge, ahh I could go on and on. What's up with Cirque? The rope doesn't look like it's really closed. Oh well....sent it!
I don't rip, I bomb.

Too cold today. They are saying lower mountain only right now anyway. I'm thinking of hanging around and taking tomorrow off as there is still plenty of powder left up there. If anyone wants to meet up DM me.

Apology accepted! Except no need to apologize as it was a pretty sweet run. The huff back not so much. Bagging today due to maybe only lower mountain opening. Was ready to brave the cold, but not worth it for just the bottom. Can't swing getting out of work tomorrow unfortunately |
Brutal cold today. I must not be able to tolerate the cold anymore. When I was younger, I would ski for quite a while on days like today. But not anymore. I was told that Hudson was running and that there may be more skiers at the ski down than the main mountain. Main mountain was empty with only Sunway chair running when I bailed a bit after lunch.

I skied Saturday and your observations are spot on. The grooming and lack of grooming for a major holiday were amateurish. They had a week to prepare sagamore and it was a skating rink with quarry size ice chunks and debris littering the trail edges. I experienced a few near death moments when my skis hit debris frozen solid to the trail. I don't understand why they blew wet, soon to be ice, snow on chatiemac and sagamore. It should have been powder. There has been an accumulation of ice debris on the edges of trails. Why aren't they finishing the grooming by going edge to edge? From various sources, I've heard that there are a lack of personal for grooming; that there is a new snowmaking person who vacillates; that there was/is a 100k or more software glitch with new snowmaking system. I'm sure there are more rumors out there. BTW, who decided to leave a giant snowmaking mound on headwaters at bottom of rumour with snow making equipment during one of the busiest holiday days of the year. Holiday hoards of skiers have a hard enough time avoiding each other.

I agree with the crowding issue on Saturday but I must have been skiing a different mountain as the unexpected fresh snow, 5 or 6 inches in spots, made my morning better than expected. I can't speak for after lunch because I was sick of the crowds and knew Sunday was coming.

Interesting that Sagamore was so bad Saturday. We skied it Friday and the group agreed it was the run of the day. There were ice chunks on the side of the trail but the trail is pretty wide so they were not an issue.Of course there were many less folks on Friday so maybe it got skied off Saturday.

My gang had a good time Saturday. While Sagamore was a little icy it was edgeable whereas we found patches on Twister that were pretty nasty. Crowds were fine, just missed the first lot arriving at 830 - I’m fine as long as I am never further than the second lot. We tried to game the crowds and were successful except hitting one line soon after Wood In opened to High Peaks. Otherwise we never had more than a 1 min wait and never rode the Gondi.
Sunday we weren’t sure about the roads so drove 15 min to West. Had an awesome 4 hours there - so much fun to ski all that powder and break trail on the north chair runs. I always end up at West 1-2 times per year and it’s always fun. |

I thought Sagamore was really icy by about lunch time on Saturday. Everything else I skied that day was good, especially with the little bit of new snow. I showed up early and tried to stay one step ahead of the crowd.
Sunday was amazing.
"This is pure snow! Do you have any idea what the street value of this mountain is?"

I also hit something on sagamore on Saturday and almost died.
I'm interested if anyone skis today and what is open |
