So NOT true. You've spread some amazing false truths here. Maybe it's your way of spewing your jealousy, not sure. Their bills were not paid. I personally know someone who did and incredible amount of work for them who was never paid. Shame on him for taking the job, but shame on previous owners for not paying this guy. Especially if they had $20M. Didn't think you could come up with an article, the only one I've ever heard say that is you. Quite frankly I'm now having a hard time believing anything you have to say. |

I bought a Greekenburg pass this year BECAUSE I skiied there for free last year the day of the Spartan Race. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the day and we felt that the pitches were comparable to Greek with 1/3 less vertical. The pitch is constant with no runout until you get to the bottom. This week Toggenburg was closed Monday thru Wednesday and their passholders were able to ski Greek for free so it works both ways. So tomorrow parking at Greek costs $25 (which can be applied to next year's pass) OR you can ski for free at Toggenburg yet you seem to have a problem with either option...What would make you happy? You guys complain about the weirdest things. |
Hey Pro. Sorry we missed you last weekend. Hope all is going well.

https://www.syracuse.com/news/2013/03/greek_peak_mountain_resort_ban.html "U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Margaret Cangilos-Ruiz in Syracuse approved Stemerman's and Meier's $6.76 million bid for the resort Thursday. With $800,000 in other costs related to the purchase, they will pay a total of $7.5 million. About $2 million of the $7.5 million will pay off back taxes on the resort. The rest will go to creditors and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp." |

I missed him too. Sad, very sad However, he did have an excellent reason for not being there |
Sorry I missed you guys. All is well. My wife and I had to go to Syracuse for a food tasting for my daughter's upcoming wedding. |

Yes, those were the taxes owed AFTER the bankruptcy filing. |
LMFAO! So by your statement they paid $2M / year? Not even close.
Anyway, I'm done having this old, boring debate with you. I know what is and what isn't. Long live Greek Peak. |

It's good to know that you are are a business tax expert. I have a binder somewhere in my office containing a spreadsheet of prior taxes paid, as well as projected taxes based on certain assumptions. If it's that important to you, I can have someone look up that information. Of course you won't believe it anyway, even if it's in writing completed by an independent third party. For some reason you just hate the prior owners, which I just don't understand. They kept the place afloat for 50+ years, and were starting to turn the corner. Despise it if you will, but Hope Lake Lodge contributes significantly to the improvements you see across the street. |

I said I was done and I truly mean that.
But, when you say I hate the previous owners that couldn't be farther from the truth. I need to make that clear to you. I have nothing but admiration for Big Al. He's a true visionary and the best salesman I know. The man could talk a dog off of a meat pile. I mean how can you not admire a guy who got millions for a project that never should've been built. When we locals caught wind of it we were like WTF?!!??? It's never going to make a go. Turns out we were right. If it was such a good plan why would NO local bank touch them. Not one single one. What I'd really like to see is the research behind how someone/anyone could think a $50M hotel would make it in Virgil. Then add in your research to the golf course you wanted to build. Another quality read. My complaint is how they ran the hill side completely into the ground. Your 50+ years of keeping it afloat includes several years of neglect, serious neglect. Thanks to John and his wife the years of over promising and under delivering are over. |
That is way too funny! You totally made me laugh out loud. It's a bit easier when you begin with virtually no debt, and have a beautiful brand new lodge with many revenue sources, including fractional units to sell, F&B, weddings, a spa, a waterpark, conference facilities, and so on. What about the High Speed Quad John and Marc said was planned for year five? That seems to have come and gone, and all we have is a used triple chair from Windham waiting to be installed. |
I mean it. The man is the best I've ever seen, proof is in the pudding. I'll be curious to hear how Spartan goes this year. Last year all I heard were good things, being the 4th year for the event I'm sure they're ready for it this year as well. |
