And I'm obviously not going to show up there figuring it must be somewhere close to the city.

Thanks for posting what I don't have the patience to. I like Stowe. A lot. Make it a long weekend, do lift served, BC and bring along your nordic for some great kick and glide. Then go out to eat (Thai, English Pub, American Bistro, French - you name it) followed by a pretty fun and rowdy nightlife and music. Stowe is a lot of fun. Every weekend? Of course not but every once and a while it's great.

I like Stowe but only go when we get the cabin on top to stay. Never stayed anywhere else. It is a blast when the last time we had the hut up there, it was a full moon and we got in hot laps from the very top at 3-4am. Wake up with the chairs starting, get the first pick on groomers and back on the lifts before they even open. Chair folk didn't even mind knowing we were staying up at the hut. We would get half a dozen runs or more before 10am and then have breakfast in the lodge up top. Sweet. I will say Stowe has some of the best grooming I have ever skied.
As for price, yeah, it is way over priced at the window, but who doesn't purchase early or online for discounts? Speaking of which, I need to head over now to the Killington web page and purchase my unlimited day passes for $61, getting seven with the eighth free. That's $53.33 per day. http://www.killington.com/site/tickets/tickets_and_cards/K-Tickets I don't bother with resort lodging. As is often stated, many are run down and or over priced. So many deals to be had in the local area. ATF for Killington is the Vermont Inn, just down 4. If I go real cheap - The Butternut Inn. |

Many great skiers were broke ski bums who slept in their van. Many of the nonathletic rich gapers who pay 100 bucks plus at stowe and who post to online message boards suck! That's reality.
