Slides are open today, Silver Status.

It will be a day to day call.

Cool.  They should have opened them Monday, when I was there!  Where’d you get your info?  I saw no mention on the website or social media.

Where can I buy an avalanche Beacon right now?

You may be able to hit up the EMS in Albany on the way up to Whiteface.

When you looking to go?  I won’t be able to go tomorrow so you could swing by and borrow mine.

Not tomorrow as I'm still home. I'll wait and hope Saturday is on.

Yeah, pretty much, but black swans......you never know!  Z’s not wrong, even if a burial in the Slides is unlikely, don’t buy the avy gear if you aren’t going to learn how to use it.

We all know this is overkill to minimize problems. I agree with the policy. I actually don't want to buy one online. I want to go in person to learn about it.

Did Gold status used to mean shovel and probe only?

No, Gold status was/is a free for all.  In these here parts I kinda wonder how much you are likely to learn about using the beacon from the guy/gal standing behind the counter.

That's the dilemma. Every time up in the proper neck the woods I'm doing something with limited time available.

All the more reason to buy the damn beacon, so when the right circumstances do come together you can ski it instead of making excuses!
